Caltagirone in July is a vibrant and lively city. I was there over the period of the St Giacomo festival (1994) where la scala is light up on 2 conscecutive days, using candles to give an illumination of the many and varied designs of the city of Caltagirone. These all include the emblem of the city an eagle. during this period there are processions and galas and the city comes alive. At other times the city has much to offer such as its' famous ceramics and a myriad of streets and history which all have a beauty and usually a fine eating establishment.
Caltagirone is also ideally placed for travelling to other parts of the isalnd of interest in particular Agrigento is worth a good look whether you are interested in history or just the beautiful awesome scenery.
