We stayed at Hotel Bel 3 for two nights in June. The hotel was nice with great views of Palermo. The room was clean and spacious, but sparsly decorated. The hotel has a pool (small), sun terrace, and restaurant which serves pretty good food. If you are looking to stay outside of the city in the hillside this hotel is a great choice. If you are looking to stay near the center of Palermo choose another! This hotel is way too far from downtown Palermo to walk there (we are an in-shape couple in our 20's). It was a 30 Euro cab ride to the hotel from the train station. Once we arrived the hotel staff was very helpful with figuring out which buses (2) we needed to take to get to the center. Since there are absolutely no other restaurants or stores in the area you will want to travel downtown. The hotel also provides free internet access via two computers set-up in the lobby.

Yes, it is a little out of town, but the views are worth it!
My only gripe would be the thin walls and echoy corridors. Overall, it's a pleasant place to stay and I would stay there again. The rooms are clean.
Bus: 120 > John Lennon Plaza, then
534 to Baida. Get off where the bus ends and walk up the hill for 5 minutes. 1 euro - no need for a taxi!

You will need a car if you visit this hotel set high above Palermo. The hotel has the largest nicest rooms that we stayed in with great bathrooms. The setting is tranquil, beautiful and safe. The food is good but a limited menu. Free DSL in the lobby. There are signs to follow all the way from Palermo, sort of like going on a treasure hunt, it is a long way up a steep climb, but worthwhile once you reach the top.

We stayed at this hotel with a small tour group this spring. The hotel is not for a tourist stay. It is miles from the city center overlooking the city (great view of Palermo though). A taxi ride to the city was over 50 euro! The bar was never open even to get a soft drink and the meals were literally "nursing home food". (The hotel is some kind of a hospice and nursing home tenants live and eat in the hotel.) We DO NOT recommend this hotel. Try the Central Palace or Villa Igea.
