We arrived late in the afternoon and there wasnt anyone at the hotel, but within 5 mins a young man arrived on his motorbike. He checked us in smoothly and easily.
Another young man arrived and they carried our luggage up the 3 flights of steep stairs to our room. I had requested assistance with the luggage as my husband is 75 with a tricky hip.
The room was very large with a small balcony with a table and 2 chairs, another set of french windows and a fridge. It was very very clean and the bed was so comfortable.
There was a small fridge for us to keep our vino cold etc. Next door to our room was a huge shared terrace looking over the street, so we were more inclined to use that than our own balcony.
The breakfast was the best we had in 11 weeks of travelling in Italy and Sicily.
There were cereals and fruit and yogurt, but after the first morning when they saw me cutting up the fruit to put on the cereal, suddenly freshly cut fruit salad appeared. Wonderful.
There were lots of sweet things, plus rolls, bread etc. However the thing that won me over, was there was a platter with 3 large pieces of hams/cold meats where you could slice your own, plus 4 large cheeses, again where you could slice your own. It was so fresh and so tasty.
The b & b is at the far end of the island so quite a walk to where the bridge is, but the local bus stops just down the street. It was a 10 min walk to the Duomo and the main square where we spent many an afternoon sipping a wine and watching the world go by.
There are quite a few resturants nearby, but most of the better ones are in the town itself about 15 mins walk.
The young man on reception (his name has slipped my mind) was wonderful about recommending resturants, ringing to make sure they were open on Sunday and Monday and also making reservations for us.
We really enjoyed our stay at this b & b.
