Stayed here via a package break through Thomsons, for 1 week.
Immediate warm welcome from staff and nice clean room with balcony, satellite tv, mini bar, hairdryer in bathroom, shower, table/chairs. Rooms cleaned daily.
Stayed on 4th floor, views lovely from balcony over bay.
Being 'fussy' eaters, was apprehensive about food...but there were no worries here! 3 course meal with at least 3-4 choices in each section, and i must say, we ate there 6 out of 7 nights. The quality was really good and the manner served to you was excellent... Especially great Gala buffet night on Fridays where the chefs lay out a large selection of traditional Scician dishes...and yes you are free to try lots!
Reception helped us with extra tips/advice/maps.
Went on 3 trips, Etna, Lipari Island and 'in the steps of the godfather 1/2 day tour. All excellent and worth doing. The godfather tour especially nice for some spectacular traditional hill top villages with option to walk further up for more views or just hang around in the few nice little bar/snack/restaurants.
Taromina's main area is reached via nearby cablecar, where you can spend hours a day admiring more views, quaint streets, loads of restaurants and tourist shops/Scicilian shops. The cable car ran from 8am to 815pm. If energetic, it IS worth going up the steps route to Taormina, where tou will find even more nice views en route.
Also recommend Castelmola (hundreds of steep steps up !OR by local bus from the main bus station.
Overall no regrets staying in this hotel, not too noisy for us, but then it was not full.
Thanks to all the great staff for a great stay and lovely food.
Average price for a bottle of beer in the hotel or immediate area was 3 Euros.
Most restaurants sell delicious pizzas for about 6-8 Euros.
The only thing i would say was, no relation to the hotel itself, but at this time of year there were very few nearby 'walking distance' bars for the evening. There were several lovely beach bars open til early eve, but these may be open for longer in the height of summer. ?
There are no other real options to get up to Taormina other than the cablecar and steps, but the steps are NOT an option at night and nor is the road way (no paths). The taxi at night down from there to hotel cost us two 15 Euro's, quite expensive for 5 mins ride. Still dont regret the hotel though!
