Beautiful hotel and beautiful location, the only fault we could find were the thin walls at night! When you walk into your room and open the shutters on to the terrace you can only go 'wow'! What an amazing view. We definitely plan to go back and in the meantime I must get fit as walking out that driveway of the hotel nearly killed me as it is so steep!! The bus station is just across the road which is very handy. From the hotel it is about 8 minutes walk to the town centre and restaurants. Bring a big digital card and spare batteries for your camera because you will be taking loads of photographs!

“Another Great Holiday at The Sirius”

My wife and I have recently returned from our third holiday in Taormina, and likewise our third stay at The Sirius.
On our last stay we made the mistake of not requesting a sea view, essential if staying here, and yes unfortunately we had to put up with the constant barking of the dog next door.

I would like to endorse what has been said about the cleanliness of the hotel, everything is immaculate and the staff most helpful, although I agree the Manager can seem arrogant and unhelpful at times.

The pool and pool bar are a good feature of the Sirius, there were always more than enough sunbeds and again everything very clean and well-maintained

Our only criticism concerned the evening meals, the choice and portion size left a lot to be desired, they seem to try and cater for English tastes too much and the results are not always good.

As an alternative, you are spoilt for choice when eating out in Taormina with a good selection of pizzerias and restaurants ranging from very reasonable to first class. We would recommend the Granducca with it's excellent views of Mount Etna and the Bay of Naxos. Service and food there was superb, even at very busy times.

Not to be missed is a trip up to Castelmola, perched at the top of the mountain with views over the whole of the coast and town, also some excellent bars and restaurants. (15 euros by taxi).

We are venturing to the Italian Lakes for our holiday next year but hope to visit the Sirius again, maybe for a week and renew old friendships.

We returned yesterday from Taormina, having had a lovely 2 weeks at the Sirius. The staff at the hotel are accommodating and professional, and the standards of cleaning superb. The food was very good;enough choice, although my partner is vegetarian and there was quite a limited choice for him-luckily he likes risotto! The wine list is good, and not that expensive for a hotel. Breakfast was great, pastries and ham, cheese, etc and as much as you want, served in a beautiful air conditioned dining room which has sea views. There is a terrace where a buffet was held on the 2 Sundays we were there; the food was wonderful! The pool was clean and enough sunbeds, and great coffee from the pool bar, with a good range of snacks. Also, the hotel provide pool towels if required. One of the earlier reviews mentioned a barking dog, and yes, it's next door. We asked for a change of room and this was no problem. We were put into another lovely room with a large terrace and side sea views. There is a porter to help with luggage and the reception staff are helpful, friendly and speak excellent English. All in all, highly recommended; and a bonus was that we met some great people too.

This was the first stop on our Sicilian tour in July 2006.
We arrived very late, having hired a car at Palermo airport and not wanting to waste our day simply going from A to B toured for the day through the mountain towns surrounding Etna (note to ryanair passengers; this makes the 6am flight from London worth it!)
As late as it was, we were greeted by friendly and courteous staff who assisted us as though it were no later than midday.
We booked a junior suite with sea view. Our room had a terrace which provided a beautiful view of the coastline for us to awake to and appreciate with an aperitif in the evening. Our room and bathroom were spotless and were kept clean and cool by the attentive cleaning staff.
There was no minibar in the room but a much more favourable fridge.
Breakfast provided an ample selection of bread, cheese, meats, juices and (what appeared to be) homemade cakes, yum!!
The staff were always welcoming and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The duty manager arranged an early breakfast for us on the day of our departure, which we very much appreciated.
We did not have dinner in the hotel but the restaurant appeared to be popular with other guests as it was always busy.
We did however have lunch at the poolside bar which provided a good selection of panini, salads, pasta and freshly squeezed fruit juices and the obligatory (and delicious) coffee.
The pool was blissfully calm and provided delightful respite from the relentless heat and soothed our aching feet following the rambles we took in and around Taormina.
Taormina itself was a lovely town with no shortage of shops and restaurants; everything from bona fide to faux designer goods and haute to turistic cuisine.
I hope you will find something to enjoy regardless of your taste and budget so men: shake down those linen trousers and leather loafers, ladies: shimmy into that lycra and those killer heels and prepare to passagiatta!

“Great Hotel and wonderful holiday”

Sirius Hotel

Stayed for a week as part of 30th wedding anniversery. Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed in mini suite (thoroughly recommend room 121 for the excellent views of the bays and coastline!).The hotel has a steep drive way and stairs to main entrance so be warned if you have walking difficulties - but the hotel location and standard of room cleaning etc. is worth it.

Breakfast is basic continental with choice of meat, bread rolls/jams, cereal, yoghurt etc. with tea/coffee. Be warned, the restaurant is small and tables have to be shared. Choice of evening meal is made at breakfast. Food adequate but recommend eating out at the excellent trattoria and restaurants in Taormina as this is all part of the Sicilian experience.

Very deep swimming pool with free sun beds and snack bar that was always staffed. The hotel bar was not always staffed when we were there.

Overall, an excellent holiday area with combination of historic Taormina within easy walking distance and marvellous beach lido areas and bays via cable car 5 min from hotel (2 euro return). Excursions available and recommend the Godfather Tour for film buffs who want to see film locations. Mount Etna and Stromboli also available at reasonable price. A boat trip from the beach lidos is recommended (Sebastian's boat if you can take it).
