We drove to the hotel from the direction of Catania. Simply follow the winding road up the hill towards Taormina and the hotel cannot be missed, on the right hand side of the road.
This is a first class hotel with all the trimmings. We found all the staff extremely helpful, and the rooms spotless. We were on honeymoon and had an upgraded Junior Suite overlooking the sea. The room No.206 was very large and had a huge balcony. Clean bed sheets every day, clean towels twice a day, and the bed covers pulled back for you before nighttime.
Breakfast was between 7.30 and 10.30am with a large selection including cereal, egg, bacon, cheese, fruit and meats. Enough coffee for 5 cups each!
Overall, lunch and evening meals were pricey, but the food was exceptional. Although we didn’t eat there often, It’s well worth spending the money for at least one meal there. Alternatively there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from in Taormina, which is a 10minute walk from the hotel.
Most of our days were spent by the swimming pool. The pool attendant is very friendly and we got on very well with him. Towels are supplied and there were plenty of spare sun loungers all day (September). The pool is perched on the cliff edge with spectacular views and open from 9am till 6pm. Although I think this is dependant on the weather. It was hot all week for us.
A bus service is provided to the town and local beach, although we only used this once to visit the beach. It runs on a regular basis throughout the day.
Apart from the meals, there are no hidden costs, even the internet access is free. Although the hotel isn’t the cheapest, its well worth spending that little extra for the benefits you receive. If we go to Sicily again, we will only stay at one hotel, San Pietro.
We had a good look around, and I think you’d be hard pushed to find a better hotel in the area for views, position, quality and service.
We stayed in Sicily for 2 weeks, our last week was in this hotel, we saved the best till last.
