“Fantastic Hotel - best by far!”

There is little left to say about the San Pietro that other reviewers have not already said. A fantastic hotel - an oasis of peacefulness with excellent service and standards of all round cleanliness, decor etc etc. As other reviews state, food is on the pricey side - but when you are on the door step of the quaint Taormina town and the Corso Umberto (main steet) with numerous Trattorias, restaraunts and bars you may as well eat out, rather than eat in the hotel. Very good transport available to the local beach provided by the Hotel (free of charge); pool very attractive with towels provided at both the beach and at the pool. Due to the general ambience of the Hotel, this may not be the hotel for you if you have small children who are likely to want to run around and be generally noisy - when we stayed most of the other guests were either older couples, or families with much older children.
Overall difficult to find anything negative to say about the San Pietro. Would recommend it 100 percent.

This hotel was listed in several travel books as top of the line and expensive, both of which were true, but well worth it. Definitely more of a couples hotel than family, although there were some kids. The hotel is quite beautiful and our balcony had a view of Giardini-Naxos Harbor and Mt. Etna. The grounds are well kept with a gorgeous pool and several pretty outdoor terraces and patios. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel staff, who were so helpful (especially when speaking with Alitalia to retrieve our wayward luggage). They went out of their way for us, and I wrote the Hotel Manager directly to thank him. The hotel is in a great spot, just below the main center of town, so everything is a short walk (up, as Taormina is basically built into the side of a mountain).

On the downside, the restaurant was incredibly expensive, so we never ate there. Our room came with a buffet breakfast which I enjoyed immensely. (It was the same every morning, which my husband thought was a drag. However, they had lots of options – eggs, bacon, Italian meats, fruit, yogurt, muffins, cereal, etc.) We were supposed to have wireless access in our room, but a technical glitch was blocking it. There was a hotspot in the lobby, and the hotel had a computer accessible for guests to use. Overall, this was a wonderful place which I would highly recommend.

“5* Hotel, Town & People!!!!”

Grand Hotel San Pietro

A beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It may not be the best for a family with young children, but is perfect for couples!
the place is a little pricey in terms of the room service menu, but for a 5* hotel what do you expect
The only 1 negative point I can say, was that there were no in-room ironing facilites - everything else was perfect!!

Would definately recommend & stay there again.

“Perfect honeymoon hotel!”

Grand Hotel San Pietro

We received a complimentary upgrade to the San Pietro after booking our honeymoon at the sister hotel - the Caparina - and finding it was simply awful on arrival. The San Pietro was complete luxury, an oasis of calm and tranquility with understated elegance. The hotel had a fabulous, well serviced, pool with beautiful views of Isola Bella and the coastline below. The food in the hotel was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they even organised a private taxi to take us on a tour of the vineyards around Mount Etna. The hotel is a short walk from the charming and picturesque town of Taormina and a wide range of cafes, wine bars and rsetaurants, not to mention fab shops!

“More than 5 Stars!!”

Grand Hotel San Pietro

We drove to the hotel from the direction of Catania. Simply follow the winding road up the hill towards Taormina and the hotel cannot be missed, on the right hand side of the road.

This is a first class hotel with all the trimmings. We found all the staff extremely helpful, and the rooms spotless. We were on honeymoon and had an upgraded Junior Suite overlooking the sea. The room No.206 was very large and had a huge balcony. Clean bed sheets every day, clean towels twice a day, and the bed covers pulled back for you before nighttime.

Breakfast was between 7.30 and 10.30am with a large selection including cereal, egg, bacon, cheese, fruit and meats. Enough coffee for 5 cups each!

Overall, lunch and evening meals were pricey, but the food was exceptional. Although we didn’t eat there often, It’s well worth spending the money for at least one meal there. Alternatively there are hundreds of restaurants to choose from in Taormina, which is a 10minute walk from the hotel.

Most of our days were spent by the swimming pool. The pool attendant is very friendly and we got on very well with him. Towels are supplied and there were plenty of spare sun loungers all day (September). The pool is perched on the cliff edge with spectacular views and open from 9am till 6pm. Although I think this is dependant on the weather. It was hot all week for us.

A bus service is provided to the town and local beach, although we only used this once to visit the beach. It runs on a regular basis throughout the day.

Apart from the meals, there are no hidden costs, even the internet access is free. Although the hotel isn’t the cheapest, its well worth spending that little extra for the benefits you receive. If we go to Sicily again, we will only stay at one hotel, San Pietro.

We had a good look around, and I think you’d be hard pushed to find a better hotel in the area for views, position, quality and service.

We stayed in Sicily for 2 weeks, our last week was in this hotel, we saved the best till last.
