“Good but could be better”

Hotel Villa Taormina

We booked the hotel expecting something special but found something OK but with plenty of scope for improvements. On the plus side, the building is delightful, great etna views, good central location and willing staff. However it's not finished to a high standard, the fit and quality of the materials are decidingly circumspect, in our bathroom the door frame did'nt fit, the shower door did'nt fit, water leaked everywhere rendering the floor a real hazard. The towels and bed linen were not changed during our stay. There was no evidence of the 24hr bar unless this referred to poorly stocked and expensive mini bar. The partner swimming pool is charged @ 8 euros per person and the staff there were fantastically unpleasant.

“Pefect!”

Hotel Villa Taormina

THIS is the place to stay in Taormina! The hotel is beautiful. New. Gorgeously decorated. Wonderful breakfasts. A lovely terrace garden. Internet access. A wonderful owner-operator. Large tiled bathrooms.

The only drawback is finding it! (Took us an hour and find it then because a kind man on a motorbike took us right to it!) And, the street it's on (more like the size of an American sidewalk) is very narrow - so be prepared to pull in those side view mirrors!

Our room had a small balcony with a view of Mt. Etna and the sea. The hotel is jus one street up from Corso Umberto - a shopper's mecca, yet it is quiet and peaceful. If you don't care about being closer to the water, then this is the hotel for you.

“Excellent small hotel”

Hotel Villa Taormina

We spent three nights in one of their standard (no view) rooms, and loved it. Small and quiet, but with staff that were very helpful and friendly. Well positioned for the evening stroll down the Corso Umberto, and the views from the breakfast terrace really are stunning. Our room was very clean and had air conditioning.

I wouldn't hesitate to return. The only downside I can think of is that the nearest parking is at the public carpark at Porta Catania; while it's a short uphill walk, it is very difficult to park near the hotel and drop off luggage.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Taormina in September 21st for 3 nights. It is a beautiful 4 star hotel that just opened four months ago. The hotel has a perfect situation one street behind Corso Umberto, and very near the Porta Catania where you should park in case you drive your own car. It is a five minute walk from this public park to the hotel. The Hotel is very well decorated, and has three room’s categories, standard room with terrace (no sea view), superior rooms with view, and the suite (nr.8) in the second floor with a magnificent view over the sea and the Etna. Breakfast is served in the second floor terrace, were again we had that magnificent view over the sea and the Etna, and we enjoyed a great buffet . All the staff is very friendly supervised by the enchanting owner Miss Rosalie Gerber.
Do not hesitate to look at the hotel web site and have a look, but be prepared because what you will find on arrival is much better. I strongly recommend this hotel.
