The decor may be basic, but the location is great. Their platter of Tuscan salami, pancetta etc. is arguably the very best in Cortona, and a good part of Tuscany. The menu is small but interesting, you can sample excellent crostini, some very good soups, and the pasta dishes are usually original in their use of vegetables, or meats to produce stimulating sauces. The meat dishes may be variable, but generally they rely on good local produce especially for the poultry, pork and rabbit. The wine list is superb and the help of the owner in choosing some of the best is very valuable. The service could be improved.
