“Our trip to Florence would not have been the same without this wonderful experience!”
We booked the Walkabout Florence "The Best of Tuscany Tour" although we were hesitate because of the long day (12 hr) and we weren't really keen on touring on a big bus with a lot of people. We were a famiily of 4, mom/dad & our 2 "kids" in their 20's. At the end of the day, we all said we were amazed at how reasonable the price was for such an awesome experience.
We were told to check-in at the train station at 8:15 a.m. We arrived at 8:15 to find that we were almost the last ones to board the bus. Chris was terrific in explaining what the day would bring and the 'rules of the road'. Coke & water were available on the bus to purchase for a nominal price. Bus was new and comfortable. Chris was the perfect moderator, easy voice, easy going and just the right amount of talking.
Siena was our first stop and the local guide was outstanding (I wish I could remember her name). She was very animated about the competition between Siena & Pisa and her passion for the Pailo di Siena quite evident. Her flair & enthusiam really made it all very interesting. Siena is a beautiful "little city" (not " little town" as our lovely guide reminded us!) and the shopping was great.
Lunch at the organic farm/winery was yummy! Bread, pasta, salad, cheeses/salami, biscotti and 4 different wines. Plentiful portions and friendly service. Beautiful countryside and great photo opportunities.
San Gimignano! Ahhh.....so quaint, full of character and oh, so beautiful. Our favorite stop of the day. Quality shops and excellent gelato. Breathtaking countryside.
Pisa....the leaning tower is worthy of one visit because it is remarkable to see in person. All the shopping is very touristy and not exceptional in any way(rather crummy, actually). We didn't spend a lot of time here, thankfully.
An unbelievable value for such a jam-packed day. We loved it & would highly recommend this tour for it's value and allowing us to enjoy Tuscany in a way we could have never done on our own! Thank you Walkabout Florence!
