We decided to try Ristorante Accademia based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. We walked in without a booking for a late dinner - the place was still full and buzzing, but we did not have to wait long before we were seated by welcoming staff. My husband enjoyed the Tuscan Salami (with bread) as his appetizer, and I had the Salad Fra Angelico (arugula, mozzarella, avocado and zucchini with citrus dressing) - all fresh ingredients and very well balanced. For our mains, I ordered the Soup of the Day (zucchini) and my husband had the Fillet of Beef with shallots and juniper berries. My soup was hearty and nourishing, while the steak was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we decided to book for lunch the next day, before visiting Accademia Gallery. Again, our meal the next day was superb. Appetizers: husband had Round 2 of Tuscan Salami, while I relished the mushroom strudel - it was rich and creamy and full of mushroom-y goodness. Mains: homemade gnocchi with tomato and basil. The gnocchi was light and fluffy with a mild sauce - simple yet exquisite. And the wholemeal pasta with lamb ragout and toasted almonds blew me away. The ragout was flavorful and the wholemeal pasta was al dente - I normally find wholemeal pasta too chewy, but this was perfect. The toasted almonds added a lot to the final texture and taste of the dish. Our pasta dishes came out a bit late as our order was misplaced, but our waiter was apologetic and kept us informed. We finished the meal with a creme brulee to share and espresso. Buono!

What a marvellous description of our dishes. You even made us feel hungry in describing them! Thank you for understanding our little slip up - that can happen in a busy restaurant. We hope that we can look forward to seeing you again. Ciao!
