I was determined to visit the Uffizi. I should have ordered tickets in advance, but was able to buy them in Florence a day ahead. We waited a bit, went through security, and walked up 8 long flights of stone steps to the galleries. But it was so worth it! The sculpture gallery seems as long as a football field. Many were Roman era, before Christ. The painting galleries were off the scupture gallery. The Uffizi has the largest collection of Renaisance artists outside the Vatican. The Botticelli Gallery was my favorite, "The Birth Of Venus" and " Printemps (Springtime)" are here. My favorite was a painting that showed Gabriel telling Mary that her baby was the son of God ("The Annunciation")The colors were indescribable.
