Our family just arrived home from a wonderful two week vacation in Italy (5 nights in Florence). Accommodations for six are very difficult to find in Europe -- Hotel Davanzati was wonderful! Two large rooms that interconnected with two bathrooms and ample space for everyone! We were so impressed when we arrived at our room to find one of the rooms especially set up with four single beds for our children! Fabrizio, Tomaso, and the rest of the family, were wonderful hosts, even taking much of our luggage to the train station to lighten our load when we were leaving! On top of all that, the location is unbeatable. If I could have walked the streets of Florence and picked out the perfect location, this would be it! Central to the wonderful Florence atmosphere . . . Hotel Davanzati, thank you for allowing our family to share a piece of your world -- we enjoyed your family!

My wife and I spent 2 nights here (March 22 and 23, 2005) and loved it. We chose this hotel based on the other reviews here. Fabrizio and his family were outstanding hosts. They go out of their way to ensure a smooth and wonderful visit. I really think Fabrizio would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Upon our arrival at 7:30 pm, Fabrizio took us and another couple over to the bar and cracked open several bottles of Italian sparkling wine and put out some appetizers. A very charming and funny man. The location is excellent and our room (a double 180E) was quite large and immaculate. Very good breakfast. The free internet was a nice touch. If the steps (and there are probably 15-20 of them) getting up to the landing from which you take an elevater up one floor to the lobby, are a problem for you, Fabrizio and staff will gladly assist you. As some have commented, outside noise may be an issue. I was bothered by it one night (my wife was not, however) but neither of us were bothered the second night. This is Florence after all and it's a busy city. We would definitely stay here again. It's a terrific value, and when you throw in the tremendous hospitality, it's a great place to stay.

We've stayed in very nice places and the Davanzati is one of the nicest. 3 generations of the same family make you feel if you are their only guest...better than family. The baths were operating room clean and the rooms very stylish without being too gaudy. There are fresh flowers in the halls daily.

The breakfast was just right with fresh pastries. Momma makes your coffee however you want. Tom, their son, was educated in Boston so there is no language barrier. Grandpa tours the hotel checking on cleanliness and patron happiness.

Truly a delightful stay in Florence...it can't get much better.

The service was superb.

We loved this place. Tomaso and Fabrizio are great hosts. It has more of a bed and breakfast feel because of their great hospitality. We stayed in Venice after Florence at a very nice hotel, but it was all business not much freindliness. Quite the opposite at the Davanzati.

The only downside was the noise factor. The window in our room faced a sort of atrium with apartments surrounding it. The locals were not very quiet. It didnt bother me but it did bother my wife and our freinds that also stayed at the hotel.
