My husband, our 11 year old son and I spent 5 wonderful days in Florence at this fantastic B&B. The location was ideal: It wasn't near the Duomo, but within walking distance. It was, however, in a quaint Firenze neighborhood that was not overrun by tourists.
We requested the Gold Room, #2, based on earlier reviews. We anticipated the street noise and the market below our balcony in the piazza. We actually welcomed the experience. Each morning we awoke to different vendors and their wares outside our balcony. By noon, the vendors had packed up. In the evening, the piazza became an outdoor bar with free appetizers and occasionally music. My son and I took our books and joined the street scene down below! We noticed families and elderly people were there in the early evening, and a young adult crowd was there later. The noise did not prevent us from sleeping once we would shut the glass balcony doors and the heavy wooden shutters.
Ferdinando and his staff were helpful. They provided us with a wonderful continental breakfast and strong espresso every morning and gave us our privacy. They did not live on the premises but they were nearby. We even ran into them on the street several times.
I cannot recommend the Santo Spirito neighborhood enough. We loved it and this B&B. We will definitely return here in the future. I only hope the neighborhood retains its quaintness.
