How I wish I had read the reviews before booking this hotel as it was not up to the normal Holiday Inn standard. This was the last night of our 3 week touring holiday and we thought we would stay somewhere where we could have a nice dinner. The restaurant was closed but a restaurant 2 km up the road was recommended. This was not what we wanted because we did not want to drink and drive. The hotel should have told us that the restaurant was not going to be open and given us the opportunity of booking elsewhere. The price paid was not what I would expect to pay for a bed and breakfast hotel and I expected some facilities. A Holiday Inn Express, with no dinner available, is much better value and at least the rooms are nice. Our room at Pisa Holiday Inn was dismal, shabby and small. When we opened the door, the whole wall around the door moved, as if it were made of plywood. Having complained via the Holiday Inn website I have been offered a free night, including dinner, but that is no use to me because I have no intention of returning. It is convenient for Pisa, but that is about all I can say good about it except that the breakfast was not bad.

We arrived by car mid afternoon on a Saturday, expecting to go into Pisa for a few hours and then return for our evening meal in the hotel. The hotel seemed very dead and for some reason I enquired about the restaurant for that evening to be told that there was a problem and it wouldn't be open. I remembered a previous review mentioning a problem in the evening and it dawned on me that this was a stock excuse for not opening the kitchen when bookings are down. They did however direct me to restaurants down the road towards Pisa and we used La Rota which turned out to be excellent. The Chef who we had met earlier when we called to check the place in daylight when he was sweeping the steps, spoke good english and promised to deal with us personally if we returned and was as good as his word. Breakfast however was excellent, the staff were fine but there is clearly a failure to live up to the write up on facilities available or when not available. We thought the rooms were tired and gloomy corridors, the TV had abysmal reception quality, but for one night at the end of our holiday it was bearable.

We wanted to stop in the Pisa area and the Holiday Inn at Migliarino is conveniently placed at the end of the motorway or Pisa Nord (North). The hotel staff were warm and friendly and happy to speak English, which given my stunted Italian, which made things very easy. The room was up to the usual standards (clean and tidy but not too large) and the price was, I thought , reasonable for the location and facilities. Unfortunately the restuarant was shut due to problems in the kitchen so evening meals were taken in some local eateries rather than in the hotel itself. Breakfast is included in the price and this was served as usual in the dinning area - with the normal range of Continental breakfast items on hand.
Overall our experience was good, the staff were very helpful but the lack of a place to take evening meal was disappointing. Would recommend it to people wishing to stay in the Pisa area who don't expect to pay the earth for a good room in the mid price range.

This hotel is idirectly off the SS! Via Aurelia very close to the autostrada exit. If you've got a car then this is the best place for the price. Very clean rooms, friendly staff and good food. The people here are very accommadating and friendly. The best thing about this hotel is that you can reach all the charming little Umbrian towns like Luca and Pisa in a matter of minutes. Highly recommended.n fact, if you simply make a left turn out of the hotel and follow the SS! write up to the front door of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
