The hotel decor is as expected, its pleasant and the hotel is in a very good location but this is not what I would consider a 5 star hotel. I have stayed at many excellent hotels in Europe and worldwide , they have been from 3-5 star and also boutique to luxury standards. This hotel ranked in the lowest group for me. The staff often make or break a stay alongside the decor for many people, on this occassion I found the staff smug, unhelpful and very unwilling to take accountability for some faults in the services we had paid for. The excuses rolled from them like water from a mountain stream , none of which solved the issues nor abstained them from the basic fact that they took money for failure to provide promised services, in the UK this is known as breaking a contract or more basically Theft! The weather was warm and the air conditioning did not work, the room was 27 degrees and we had to sleep with the window open, so noise ensured a terrible nights sleep before an early flight ! We asked several times for a fix, but the shrugging of shoulders occured along with many excuses, including the excuse that the prior day was a bank holiday, thius was not reflected in my price so I did not expect it to be reflected in the basic service and ammenities.
Also there is no in house ironing service/facility , for a five star this was unacceptable in my mind, they offered to send it out, at a cost to the customer , 5 Euros per item - They don't tell you that on the web site.
Finally the restaurant and Garden look great if you can suffer sleasy comments from the head waiter , I never recieved such low degrading comments in any cafe, Osteria, Trattoria in Italy all month until I arrived at this supposed 5 star establishment. If you want an overnight stay go elsewhere, it will be cheaper, this hotel is not worth the money for a 5 star sign and a 2 star service !!
