“most unfriendly place”

Green Farm Agriturismo

Green Farm wins the prize for most unfriendly place I have ever slept. The owner only wants your money and treats you as if you were a child that has been misbehaving.
It is all the opposite of what you would expect to find in an Italian agriturismo; instead of italian bio food you got minimal cooking, instead of italian charm you got an extremely unfriendly service, instead of an agriturismo in a nice location you find yourself in the periphery of Pisa which is a place for prostitutes in the evening. The swimming pool was closed and the natural park could only be visited in the weekend, so why were we there? The Farm is difficult to reach because it is after a very bussy railway so the access is more closed than not. There is an alternative difficult road which is very difficult to find and the owners do no effort at all to explain you how to get there. Moreover, you easily loose quite a lot of your holiday time on the Via Aurelia to get there, as it is extremely trafficked and dangerous. In the evening you have to find your way to the difficult access point between the prostitutes posted on the road.
We had to pay 1,5 euro for water from the tap at our dinner! Other customers who were not pleased with the bad breakfast (a single supermarket croissant and OLD bread with two types of jam) has asked for some cheese and were charged 5 euros for it. When we decided we would eat breakfast elsewhere they have nevertheless charged us a breakfast we have not been eating. Dont take this review as a complaint on italians because the owner actually isnt. There are plenty of nice places in Toscany which will offer you the usual toscan friendliness, you better dont go to Green Farm !

“worst stay ever...”

Green Farm Agriturismo

On our tour in Tuscany, we arrived with our two children in Green Farm for a 2 night stay. By the check-in we had to pay directly the full amount for our stay in cash! After this payment, we saw a little notice indicating that the pool was closed (it could well be that the notice was already there for some time) ! We did not get any compensation (reduction, free drinks or a mere excuse...) although the use of the pool was explicitely included in the price.
The rooms needed clearly to be renovated and the food was terrible. The farm seems only to be interested in getting the money (the rooms were also overpriced comparing to much better places in Tuscany we had visited during the same period) ; the imposing of strict (unjustified) rules on the guests was also not an example of hospitality (e.g. check-in only between 3pm and 6 pm....) The guests however seem to have have no rights at all.
After we had stayed in marvellous places in Tuscany, Green Farm was a great dissapointment!

“Poor customer care”

Green Farm Agriturismo

Stayed at the hotel for one night as we had spent a day in Pisa and then needed to be at the airport by 0430 hours.

Hotel unable to book a taxi for us to get to the airport. given a telephone number to ring at 0345 in order to get a taxi. No one answers. No night porter at hotel to assist.
We then find ourselves having to walk around a mile to another hotel (Great Western) where we found a helpful night porter who was able to get us a taxi.

The mile walk was in pitch black conditions with traffic roaring by, after we had negotiated the track that leads from the road to the hotel, interesting wildlife at that time of night!

Impression was that the hotel was happy to take our money but didn't care whether we got to the airport in time.

Attitude was completely opposite to what we had been used to in Florence where we stayed for three nights.

“Nice Tuscan retreat”

Green Farm Agriturismo

I stayed with a friend at this 'agritourism' small hotel/ farm for a couple of nights in June 2006.

Location
The hotel is about 15 mins drive from Pisa Galilei airport or Pisa train station (€20 by taxi). It is situated very near a motorway and a main railway route running along the coast, however you cannot hear the noise except for some fast trains. The farm is located in the middle of a wooded/ field area with only a few odd houses around. We didn't have a car so we couldn't really go anywhere, but if you have a car the farm is a great location for exploring Tuscany with places such as Pisa, Lucca or Viareggio (beach town) all within 1/2 hour drive. You can rent bikes at the hotel but you cannot go very far as all the roads/ paths around the farm are cut off by natural reserves borders or railway. You can also go horseriding.

The hotel
The hotel is a nice old Tuscan house surrounded by trees, stables, small farm and fruit orchades. It has a nice small and private pool with sun beds and umbrellas. It feels very private as the hotel is small and there are only a few guests and it is surrounded by trees. The pool is cleaned every morning. There is a TV with a few sofas in the reception area (no TV in rooms).

Rooms
We were pleasantly surprised by the rooms. They are quite spacious and have lovely antique furniture, terracotta floors (a bit cracked) and wood-beam ceilings. Even though it was over 30 degrees outside we didn't feel hot at night. The hotel provides fans and also moschito nets in the windows. We had 2 rooms, both having a double bed and 1 single bed and they shared a small bathroom. However, all other rooms are supposed to have their own on-suite bathrooms. Both rooms had sinks. Rooms either face the front of the hotel (stables and pool) or the back (fields and little bird farm).

Restaurant/ Breakfast
Breakfast was great as they make any type of fresh hot drink on request! Lovely cappuccinos! The buffet is small and cold food only - 1 type of bread, jams, nutella, croissants, home-made cake, yoghurts, fresh fruit from their garden and orange juice. There is a bar opened all day till 10pm that makes fresh coffees, serves cold drinks, some snacks, sandwiches and ice-cream. The restaurant room is lovely - with vaulted ceilings and many horseshoes on the walls as it used to be stables. You can also eat outside in the garden. Dinner is served at 8 o'clock and you need to pre-book at least a few hours before dinner. The menu changes every day and gives a choice of 2 starters and 2 main courses. Food was mediocre (typical Tuscan dishes), but had nice fresh ingrediences. Beware - there were no vegiterean choices for the main course, so you better inform the hotel of your dietary requirements before arriving!!!

Family
Great place for families - with the pool, stables, animals, bikes and even swings! I saw baby chairs in the restaurant too.

A few tips:
If you plan to take taxi from the airport, better to pre-book a cab to wait for you as there is a lack of cabs at the airport and long queues.
Take moschito spray with you! No moschitos in rooms, but it is a countryside so many outside in the evening and they are huge! We got bitten soooo much!!!

Great place to get away from it all and relax in the private gardens and by the pool. But car essential as there is nothing to do around there in the evenings. All in all I loved the place!
