“Great location”

Hotel Novecento

13 Mar 2008

On the strength of reviews on TripAdvisor I booked 3 rooms at this hotel and was not disappointed. Although not particuarly cheap at 140 euros per room per night the rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. Bathrooms chic and modern with excellent shower and soap etc provided. The staff were helpful and spoke some English. Although the rate did not include breakfast we were given free breakfasts both days which were fine - cornflakes, juice, croissants, bread rolls, ham and cheese, cakes and good coffee. Tea was the usual hot water and weak teabags. The hotel was perfectly situated for visiting Pisa and would also thoroughly recommend Osteria Dei Cavalieri for excellent food at a reasonable price. For lunch went to Black Bar, again cheap and good. Both restaurants within few minutes walk of hotel. Went to Florence by train - one hour and about 10 euros. I would definitely stay here again.

“Outstanding hotel in Pisa”

My wife and I spent seven nights in Hotel Novecento, in the first week of January 2008. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The location is perfect - five minutes walk to Campo dei Miracoli with the Duomo, the Camposanto and the Leaning Tower with the advantage of being in a quiet street. And also quite near the Arno river with other attractions, including the Church of Santa Maria della Spina and the impressive Museum of San Matteo. The staff couldn't possibly be friendlier - having stood seven nights we had plenty of occasions to judge. Our room was very comfortable although not particularly spacious, breakfast was delicious. If I have a minor observation to make is that I felt the lack of a proper space for soap and shampoo at the shower. However and contrary to the experience of one reviewer, our room was amply provided with soap and shampoo. The price (125 euros with breakfast) was fair considering all the hotel offers. I also recommend nearby Osteria dei Mille, owned by the son of the hotel proprietary - excellent food, very good price - we actually dined there three times and also had ample opportunity to compare with other restaurants in town.
In short, I don't hesitate in recommending this hotel and will always have the best possible recollection of the friendly staff.

“A lovely hotel within 10 minutes walk to the Leaning Tower”

We stayed 1 night at Hotel Novecento on October 19 at Euro 140 per night including breakfast. It takes only about 10 minutes walk to the Leaning Tower.

We got room no. 105 with a king bed, flat screen TV and Etro bathroom amentities. Our room is new and nicely decorated except that there were a couple of mosquitoes (may be because it is on the ground floor overlooking a small garden).

The staffs were nice although the owner cannot speak English. We love our staying there.

Stayed 1 night here before moving on to Florence. Nice, clean and comfortable hotel. Room and bathroom compact (no bath - shower only). 5 minute walk to the leaning tower and cathedral. Slightly unhappy on departure when a laminated sign on the desk told us due to problems with the telephone line they could not accept credit card payments. We didn't really buy this and were annoyed that we had to pay with cash. PS We felt the one night in Pisa was more than adequate!

“Cute boutique hotel very close to the Leaning Tower”

Hotel Novecento

After reading the reviews of the Hotel Novecento from fellow Trip Advisor travelers, I booked two rooms at this quaint boutique hotel for 120euros per room per night. The room rate did not include breakfast, but we were told on arrival that breakfast was included “a gift”…. a very nice gesture. The hotel is family run, with the father and daughter managing the hotel and the son and mother running the nearby ristorante, “Osteria Dei Mille”. We were warmly welcomed and while the father spoke only a little English, his daughter was quite fluent. Our room was a corner room, overlooking the garden. It was spotless clean, with a flat panel television screen, comfortable king size bed and beautiful stencil work and fresco on the ceiling (picture attached). My only complaint was that there were no soaps, shampoo or other amenities in the bathroom. Fortunately, we are seasoned travelers and always carry extra with us. Breakfast included coffee, fresh juices, fresh pastries, assorted cheeses and meats, and cereals and yogurts. In the evening, we dined at the family restaurant, located a short walk away. Dinner was quite good, but the owner/waiter seemed to be short-staffed and at times was a bit gruff. Our bill for four was close to 300 euros (including an expensive bottle of wine), so we were surprised we were not offered at least a complimentary limoncello or café before departing, as is standard in Italy. In fact, I don’t believe we were thanked or told goodbye as we left. In any case, the Hotel Novecento is lovely and highly recommended....just eat dinner elsewhere.
