I made our booking through the hotel website, which was easy to use and seems secure. At the time of booking they request that final payment is made by cash, which we did. Other booking sites may not state this preference.
The journey from airport to hotel is only 10 minutes and should be around 10Euro.
We were taxi queue jumped by some young Italian men - not a great first experience of Italy!- but difficult to do anything about when you are a couple who speak no Italian. I'm glad to say that this was the only real negative part of our trip.
The hotel was a very good 3 star: clean, modern design, and comfortable. A few small things would have made it even better -more room around the shower door, space for toilettries, - but really not significant. The room was spacious, towels were a good size, wardrobe ample, huge bed, good shower. Service was always friendly and helpful, we were given train times and football ticket outlet information, and they were happy to make restaurant reservations for us.
The hotel's restaurant, Osteria dei Mille, was also very good - great house wine.
The location was ideal, very close to the main attractions, shopping, restaurants and a short walk to the train station.
If you can, I recommend going to see Pisa Calcio football club play - (you need ID to buy tickets) an amazing experience - although perhaps not for the faint hearted if not seated in the main stand!
A day in Lucca is also recommended - we caught the train which was very easy - the restaurant i Santi- just of the Piazza Anfiteatro, was a real gem!
Overall a great weekend away.
