Funky, exciting , clean, convenient hotel with great service! Loved the hotel ! Its out of the town but you can always call the taxi.

Oh theres only one taxi service in Pisa and you may want to save their number in your phone.

The restaurant is great but they take too long to serve ( which is most of italy). The second day we ordered the food in the room.

The taxi service at the train station is bad so you can always call the hotel and they will immediatly send you a shuttle.

I would stay here again.

“Quirky but nice”

Hotel San Ranieri

Decided to spend the last night of our holiday in Pisa but never saw it. It was pouring down as we dropped our hire car at the airport and hopped in a taxi to the San Ranieri.

First impressions - modern, odd, outside and in. Reception staff looked as though they were chewing wasps - not at all helpful . Were told to go and have lunch as we were too early and room was not ready.

It got better all the way from there. Restaurant manager and team were catering for a huge conference but he tucked us away in a reasonably quiet corner. Food was fantastic and servce great in spite of conference.

Went back to reception to check in. Wasp eaters still there but a charming young lady checked us in and showed us to our room. If you are looking for traditional Italian accomodation the San Ranieri is not it. It is ultra modern - very comfortable and quiet. Suberb bathroom. Being in the hotel corridors was a quire surreal experience.

In the evening Luca, the young man in charge of the bar could not have been friendlier or more helpful. He made our evening.

Although the hotel is well outside the old part of the city there is a bus stop right outside. There are outside roof terraces which should be nice in summer.

We would certainly go back to the San Ranieri.

The restaurant strives for quality they say and based on our limited experience rthey are succeeding.

Stayed here after arriving on a late flight to Pisa .

Nice, clean modern place which was good for the one night. Good location near the Airport (need a car or there is a hotel shuttle bus) and you dont get the attitude you get from 'My Hotels Galleilli'. Outside of hotel changes colour every 30 seconds at night (Cool).

Breakfast was substantial and good quality, beds comfortable and rooms minimalist style but spacious.

No scenery to speak off really but it serves its purpose well!

    • Liked — It was in close proximity to the Airport and was of a good general standard
    • Disliked — not for the views

My (now) Husband and i booked this hotel for the proximity to the airport coming from Seville in our honeymoon. We were supposed to stay one night only since our flight arrived at 11:30 pm and make our way to florence the following day. we ended up staying an extra night. I wont lie to you. At first, i was upset because the hotel on the website says it has a shuttle service from/to airport. I had made my reservation requesting a shuttle, when we landed there was no shuttle waiting for us, so we had to grab a taxi (which in Pisa, is like striking gold..there seems to be a shortage of taxis there) We had to pay 16 euro for the taxi ride. I explained this to the front desk, which she said the shuttle is available until 10 pm. later i was given a room w/ 2 twin beds, which i requested to be changed since it was our honeymoon. They did, we we upgraded to a suite. The hotel itself is pleasing, the architecture, the decor...is very modern and all the staff was very attentive and very willing to help. I give my thanks to Erica who works the front desk at night...she was always helpful w/ a smile. The internet works but you must pay 10 euro for 24 hour access. the hotel is wi-fi all around. The barman was also friendly and very courteous and i didnt find the prices to be overly expensive. The breakfast is good, plenty and best of all you could have it indoors or enjoy the outdoors. All in all , my husband and i enjoyed the hotel and the amenities..the shuttle took us wherever we wanted to go..from the hotel to the city center, the train station and were available to come and pick us up from wherever we were for free.
I greatly reccomend it.

We checked into this hotel at lunchtime with the intention of seeing the leaning tower of pisa in the afternoon and then spending a quiet evening at the hotel in readiness for our flight the following morning. The hotel suited our plans perfectly. The staff were reasonably attentive during check in although we did have to wait for 45 minutes because we arrived at about 12:30 and the room wasn't ready. We did have a problem finding a petrol station to fill up the hire car mainly because they seem to close until about 4pm (a fact that the check in staff did not seem to know, oh and nor could they direct me to a petrol station), so I drove around for about an hour and eventually had to return to the hotel with a tank emptier than when I had left. The hotel is in a quiet suburb of Pisa and the distance of the hotel from the centre of Pisa means a bus ride (about 10 minutes), but the buses are cheap, appear to be frequent and the bus stop is only a 2/3 minute walk from the hotel, although you do need to buy the tickets before getting on the bus at a small cafe opposite the bus stops. The general architecture of the hotel and room design is interesting/different. The room had some interesting touches; like an LCD TV built into the mirror on the wall opposite the bed. It was supposed to have internet access but I couldn't get it to work. The hotel has a restaurant which charges expectedly high hotel prices although there is a cafe (see bus tickets above) very nearby that sells more reasonably priced and good quality food. The hotel has free parking and is only ten minutes drive from the airport; but I would suggest that you check the directions carefully before leaving the hotel since one wrong turn in Pisa can get you lost very quickly. All in all a reasonable hotel for a one night stop over.
