As part of our recent trip to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary we stayed at the Relais Santa Chiara. It was a new hotel but beautifully decorated in Tuscan style and set over two stories. The hotel was very clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It was within 400 meters of the old walled town of San Gimignano ,so easy to walk to, and had the added bonus of a swimming pool where we relaxed after sight seeing. The surrounding area was lovely and the views from our balcony breath taking. Unlike other 4 star hotels the food and drink prices were very reasonable although the did not provide evening meal. This was not a problem as there are many restaurants in San Gimignano, which is tranformed when the daily visitors have gone. Highly recommended, we hope to return there in the future

We've just returned from a seven night stay at the RSC in San Gimignano. This is a first rate hotel with a beautiful setting just outside the walls of the town itself. Hence it offers a haven of peace and quiet away from the busy town centre if required, as well as easy access to the walled town - just five minutes walk away. The grounds and pool are well maintained and always peaceful. The rooms overlooking the pool are relatively small compared to others in which we have stayed in various Italian hotels, but the space on the south facing balcony more than makes up for that. Breakfasts taken by the poolside terrace are an excellent and leisurely way to start the day and the food is more than ample and the service staff very obliging and helpful. Drinks can be obtained throughout the day and lunchtime food is both good value and delicious. This is our fourth visit to the hotel and it is one that we'd recommend if you wish to spoil yourself for a few days or more.
