“A Tuscan dream come true”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

I have been dreaming about a holiday in Tuscany since I first visited Italy in 2001. Our stay here at Podere Zollaio far exceeded what I could imagine or hope for. The hosts Lisa, Chiara and Ian are so friendly and hospitable and we loved the visits from the purring little kitty cats! The location is perfect with beautiful views of the town of Vinci from our balcony of the La Mansarda appartment, from the pool or even from the bbq where we sat and ate our dinner one night. The wine is unforgettable and we will never stop raving about our trip and experience for many years to come. Thanks a million, Barbara & Ben (Aussies!)

“Everything we could hope for!”

We arrived at the end of August and stayed in the Gallaria appartment for a week.

I have to say - it was everything we had hoped for. Living the Tuscan dream - amazing food and drink, beautiful cities and countryside on your doorstep.

The owners, Ian and Chaira were extremely friendly, providing good advice about local attractions. They even produce their own Guide which you will find in the room telling you about local restaurants and places to visit.

The appartment was clean, big enough for our needs. There is a nice swiming pool and jacuzzi. You also receive a complimentary bottle of white wine, red wine and olive oil - all produced on site!

Location wise - you can walk to Vinci village from the appartment. Takes about 15 mins, although not so good on the way home as quite hilly! Also watch out for mosquitoes and bugs. There were loads around! Be warmed - especially if you like to sit outside with a book!

We hired a car from Pisa airport. Took about hour to drive there. Florance about 35 min drive - although you are better off driving and parking at Empoli Train station and getting train. Saves driving through busy Florance looking for parking!

Will definitely return sometime. Thanks to Podere Zollaio for great week!

“a tuscan dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

My partner and I stayed in the "Chiocciola" apartment for six nights. We found this gave us ample room and everything that was needed (ahd more) for a s/c stay. We had read previous reviews and ensured that we hired a car for the duration. Getting to the apartment was difficult due to our lack of preparation but wtih Ian and Chiara on hand via the telephone it could not have been easier - Ian even met us on arrival to vinci village and directed us personaly to the apartments. We diveded our time between seeing the sights of Lucca, Florence and Siena (which is a MUST) and relaxing by the pool. The pool was out of this world, the views were breathtaking and it was very quiet for high season (one other couple on some days, and all to ourselves on others). Ian especially was on hand with great advice and not only did he recomend a great night at the village fete further up in the hills with great food and a stunning view. Ian was also on hand to translate when we had a bit of trouble with our hire car! All in all we loved the accomodation, the location, the weather, the wine but most importantly the service from Ian, Chiara & Lisa. I would recommend anyone to stay here at anytime during the year and I am already thinking about a return!

“could not have been more satisfied”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2009

I cannot emphasize enough how satisfied we were with this apartment (Archi), the people who manage it, the whole facility, and the surrounding countryside and setting in the town of Vinci.

Not only was this a well-appointed place to spend a quiet holiday, but the restaurants and attractions locally were excellent and varied. But the best part was the staff, who were the finest hosts I have experienced in many years, knowlegeable, courteous, generous with their time, and always ready to help in any way.

Also, this was great rental was situated ideally for siteseeing in Firenza without driving in, as we could motor to the nearby town of Empoli and take one of the frequent commuter trains into and back out of the city - much more pleasant to me than fighting traffic on a holiday.

“a great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2009

My daughter and I stayed in one of the holiday flats which was perfect for our requirements. It had all the facillities for selfcatering. The beds were very comfortable.
The view outside could not be more beautiful. The owners are always around to make your holiday somthing special. The walk down to Vinci through the olive groves is a lovely walk. In the village you can catch the local bus to empoli train station where you can travel to Florence, Pisa, Siena or some of the small villages. We have been going back to Podere Zollaio for several years now and hope to be able to continue to do so.
