My husband and i stayed here for a week late June.
The staff were always helpful. Not too many spoke English but were always willing to try to help understand! Took us up to our room and showed us around. Olga, one of the ladies who works there was very helpful all the time. Her English is very limited but she never gave up trying to understand us and was always willing to help. A smile was always plastered on her face.
Breakfasts were to die for every morning. Everything was freshed and just baked and NEVER disappointed. (Only problem was this was the beginning of our trip in Italy and we never found croissants as good as these so we were set up for failure for the rest of the trip! lol). There was a variety of pastries, cereals, cheese, ham, toast, jams and spreads, yoghurts, juices and coffee. Something for everyone.
Our room was cleaned everyday, towels changed everyday. SWe were very happy with this.
There was a gorgeous walk if you go up the 'garden path' past the childrens play equipment and continue up the hill. It took us up high to get great views of the area. It was beautiful. Only thing was the walk was too short, we would have loved it to keep on going.
It was a perfect place to stay for lots of day trips by car to Gubbios centre, Perugia, Baci chocolate factory etc... I would strongly recommend having a car as there's no public transport here though.
We didn't buy dinner here though the wedding we were attending, the reception was held here and the food was AMAZING. So i would say it is well worth spending extra and eating dinner here as well.
The rooms in the castle were quite big. There was a loft with the beds. We were up the top and you could stand on the bed, pop your head through the opening in the roof and watch the sunrise. It was different every morning and a gorgeous way to wake up. The kitchen was more than adequate, bathroom quite large, eating area, couch (not that comfortable). Just perfect for a relaxing holiday. Wouldn't have changed anything about this hotel. The pool was perfect. 2 pools, one large and a smaller one, shade near the pools so you could hop and and sit in the shade or sun.
We loved this place :) Thumbs up!!
