I stayed at the hotel during the time of the ISTH conference in Geneva. The reception staff were very charming.

The room itself was a suite and housed a plasma screen, and kitchen area. The whole room was cutting edge and the visually the best place that I have stayed in.

Howevere after checking out the experience was a bit soured by the hotel charging me for phone bills that I did not take, after I left the hotel. The amount, however was only approx £30.

“More than just a "designer" hotel”

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip to Geneva, and it was booked for me by the company travel office. I must say that I would not have chosen this hotel, if left to my own devices, but it proved to be a very good experience, and I would definitely stay here again. The hotel bills itself as a designer hotel, with a gallery and design shop adjacent to the hotel. Since design is not exactly my highest priority in selecting a hotel, I was skeptical. The rooms are very sleek, European minimalist design, with all white, chrome and glass decor and fixtures. On the other hand, my room was large (junior suite, with a kitchenette - but was still large, even for a junior suite) and was spotlessly clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and were eager to help in any way possible. The area where the hotel is located is not the most attractive part of the city. It is a historically less-desirable location which is currently undergoing a lot of renovation and upgrading, so it is still in "transition," but the streets feel safe at night and the hotel is located about 150 meters from the tram line, which can take you directly to the city center or the main train station. There are a couple of bars located within steps of the front door of the hotel. For dining, there are many restaurants within an easy walk or tram ride. If you are driving, I'm not sure about parking at the hotel. If there is a parking area, it won't hold very much. Breakfast buffet at the hotel was "okay" but nothing to get excited about (breads, cereal, yogurt, cheese, etc). I did hear one fellow asking the hostess if they had a cooked breakfast option, and she said "no", but that it would be coming soon. All-in-all, there are better locations in Geneva (e.g., one of the nicer hotels on the river/lake), but you will pay much more for them, so unless you really have to stay on the river, this small hotel may be one of the better values, since it provides clean rooms and great service at a reasonable price.

“A clean, neat modern hotel”

We have just returned from a one-week holiday in Switzerland with friends in which one night was spent in the hotel. Although it is slightly difficult to find, with very limited signage it is a lovely clean, neat hotel. Our friends stayed in a junior suite, and my wife and I in a normal room. Both of these were clean and immaculate in their finishing. Internet access is possible through the normal pay for usage system. There is no parking as such at the hotel, however we were very pleasantly surprised to find out that the hotel staff directed us a cobbled street area at the back of the hotel, where we left our car for two days at no charge. This was a well lit secure area where the hotel staff could see the vehicle.

We had a meal in the cafe universal restaurant which is in the 26 Boulevard du Pont- d'Arve -- only three or 400 m away. Although I would not say it is the most immaculate of buildings and its large mirrors could do with the good cleaning, it was however a pleasant meal at a reasonable price.

Almost directly opposite the hotel is a small bar, which it turns out it is run by a guy originally from Manchester, but who has travelled around Europe quite a bit. This is ideal for having a few beers or some spirits and is literally 10 m away.

We found out that the area in which the hotel is based had previously been one of the less eloquent parts of the city but which has been developed over the past 5 years. We then understood the reaction of a friend who earlier in the week seemed concerned with the area we were staying in. However I don't think anyone should be concerned as it is a safe secure area to walk at night.

Overall then a clean, neat, modern hotel with good in room facilities and helpful staff. Although not the cheapest of hotels it is however good value for money and his reasonably central for the city.

One last comment regarding Geneva -- we had spent five days touring in Neuchatel, Lausanne and had visited Bern, and planned all day Thur and Friday in Geneva as our highlight, but the real highlight was a short visit across the French border to Annecy which is approximately 1 hour's drive south. Having spent the two days in Geneva, we now wished we had spent an overnight stay in Annecy with one day in Geneva.

“Wonderful Hotel for a family with young children!”

La Cours Des Augustins

We have been booked into this hotel by my husband's company; I can only say that with two young children we found the hotel perfect for our needs.
I travel for work adn visited many hotel however... I am also the classical mum scared of going places where I might not find an environment suitable to our family routines and children needs..
I have to say that after this experience I have set a standard of what I would like to finde elsewhere when travelling with my family.

We had a large loft room (children had space to move around and play after a long afternoon spent at the airport and flying out of London). The room was equipped with new and modern furniture, a sofa bed taht turned into a large bed, a table for 4,a television with DVD that made the stay easier for the children as they had their realxing evening time watching their favourit videos. ..

The room had a fully equipped cooking corner with all facilities such as Fridge Frizer, microwave, dishwasher, espresso machine (good quality too..) etc...
just a wonderful facility to prepare bottles, warm up milk etc.. well every mum will know what I mean...

We also had a lovely bath area, open onto the bedroom ... my daughter could not stop using one the funky transparent cubes available for sitting to climb up to one of the sinks and brush her teeth in front of big round mirror :)
The children loved it (aged 1.5 and 4.5) and we all had a relaxing and most enjoyable experience.

I would particularly like to mention the hotel staff has they have been extremely professional, caring, accommodating and very responsive to our needs (they provided a baby cot at our request and helped us with any booking or information we have needed).

I can only reccommend the hotel to anyone visiting Geneva who shares the same need we have as family .. but not just..the hotel is perfect for everyone after a clean, modern looking and friendly hotel; Personally I have already passed their cards to my friends..

“Reasonable hotel”

I stayed at the La Cours Des Augustins for a few nights on the reccomendation of friend.

The hotel is new, very clean and tidy and it seems reasonably run.

My room was very new, clean, and very modern at the expense of comfort. There are few soft furnishings, which means no sofas to relax on.

The staues on the stair well are nothing short of bizarre.

When I checked out they were not clear if I had or had not had breakfast at the hotel and nearly charged me.

I would stay if I had to, but for me next time it is back to the Metropole.

Other than that it is OK.
