The hotel is located very close to the train station and is easy to get to. It is situated on the corner of a park that is filled with families who sit while the children play on the swings and climbing frames.
The hotel facade looks very upmarket and once inside the reception is very modern but slightly cold and clinical looking.
The reception staff are incredibly proffesional and attentive. Once you are booked in, they take you up to your room, they insist on carrying your luggage for you, or you can leave it in reception to be taken up for you later (I would not be surprised if in some cases this would be unpacked for you!).
The corridors are the worst thing about this hotel. The decor is grey walls with matt black floors. The hotel room doors are steel grey, my partner commentated that it felt as if you were walking down a prison corridor.
Once in the room, you are shown where everything is and what light controls do what etc.
The room itself.
Obviously extremely clean and modern. We had the Tango room, which was decorated predominately in bright orange with dark brown wooden floors. The room contained a large desk with plenty of drawer space and a mini bar under the desk. There was a large flat screen tv on the desk. The desk itself was in dark wood to compIiment the floor. There were two chairs in the room, one easy chair and one at the table. They were a triumph of design in orange leather, but they were very heavy and not easy to move the chair back from the desk to sit in. They both had weird black plastic plugs in the edge of the seats, which was part of the design, but this made them slightly uncomfortable to sit in. 3 apples were displayed on a modern dish in the centre of the desk, but we were unsure if they were complimentary to eat, or if the hotel staff would have been outraged to discover we had eaten the arty display!
However I did like the decor until my partner suggested it may have been sponsered by Easyjet, which kind of spoilt the ambiance!!
The bed is large and luxurious with plump pillows, thick puffy duvets and expensive linen. The room is air conditioned, so it is no problem to sleep with the heavy duvet on in hotter weather.
The bathroom was of course very modern, with mood lighting if you wanted it while you were showering or bathing. The complementary soaps were of high quality. They also supplied a complimentary disposable razor and foam and toothpaste and brush in case you have forgotten yours.
Room service is of a high standard. They come in to turn down your beds and put out small foot mats each side of the bed, while you are out in the evening, they also cleaned the bath after we had used it and they tidied up all our stuff in the bathroom. They also left a small tea light candle burning in the bathroom, which was an attractive touch, although I perhaps would have preferred to have been left a night cap instead! Effectively room service is twice a day in this hotel.
The decor of this hotel has been designed by an artist, something they are very proud of. However I felt it was so stylish, it lacked a bit of warmth and comfort overall. I am sure however that other reviewers would love the decor, I have no complaints over the quality, just the design which was not entirely to my taste.
On checking out, the final nice touch that the hotel gave was free mineral water to travel with. It is the little touches like this that for me, make this a superior hotel, the only reason I have not given it the highest mark is for the design which was not entirely to my taste.
