I hadn't stayed at the Goldey for over five years so I brought along a Swiss buddy and his lady friend for an overnight trip to see if it was still the same interesting place. Same great little hotel with spotless rooms, very friendly staff and an amazing breakfast. I requested a horse and buggy pick the three of us up at the lobby entrance just after our 5:00 p.m. happy hour. We clip-clopped through the town for an hour with a fun driver named Wolfgang and had a nice dinner near the clock tower a few minutes away.

Request a south facing room indeed and enjoy the quiet neighbourhood. There is a self serve laundry 5 minutes west and several good restaurants nearby. From the west train station to the Goldey is about a 10 minute stroll and you can use the station lockers if you are loaded up. Only other thing I would comment on is that the price at the Goldey is a little more than I remembered but the value is definitely there. I think this is a very nice place for romantic couples.
