My first time back at this hotel in about 7 years.
New management, now been run by the next generation of the Swiss Italian family who own the Schweizerhof and its partner hotel, the Post Hotel in Davos. They are a charming young couple.
Standards in the hotel have if possible even improved on what I always considered and exceptional and faultless hotel.
I was travelling with my wife and our 14 month old baby. They gave us an excellent south-facing room on the ground floor. The staff all know my son by first name within a day and he became the little star of the hotel, thankfully to the staff's kindness. Even though they don't officially do infant's food, at night at the restaurant whenever there was a cream soup on the menu, they'd offer us a bowl for him. Every time a waiter or waitress passed him they smiled/waved or spoke to him. The bar waitresses quickly got into the habit of making him a natural fruit compot every afternoon around 4pm.
The food is still exceptional, with a 5 course dinner every night. During our stay they had one of their special nights, with a most amazing buffet dinner.
The breakfast buffet is a wonderful way to start the day, and I admit I put on more weight than I ever have, but that's because I tended to stuff myself with their fresh müesli, breads, cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit salad, bacon and wonderful warm local saussages and their great coffee.
They have a playroom for kids on the top floor, which we only actually discovered on the second last day.
A pianist plays relaxing music every night and in the late afternoons. He too was so kind with my baby son.
Unfortunately, the wonderful concierge, Mr. Balzer who has been there for so many years and was a gem in the hotel industry, sadly told me on my last day that he was retiring at the end of the 07 winter season. He will be a great loss to the hotel.
They have also built a new pool, very nice, yet a little too deep in the shallow end.
The Schwezierhof has a great central location in Davos Platz. This hotel some how manages to pamper its guests without going over the top. It is a luxury place, but is not snobbish. The staff are wonderful, efficient and friendly. The bedroom are beautifully and comfortably furnished.
As before, I will continue to recommend this hotel without any hesitations.
