I couldn't have picked a better hotel - the hotel was really good and the location excellent for the Gonergrat Railway which took you up the mountain for skiing.

the staff were very friendly and helpful.

the only criticism I had was the speed in which dinner was served in the restaurant in the evenings - it was all very quick - and one thing I do like on holiday is a leisurely dinner and not to be rushed through all 5 courses. Normally the courses were completed within the hour. When the food came it was on piping hot plates but the food was never as warm as the plates - we could never understand it.

Bruno in the bar was a star he was always eager to recommend drinks depending on how you were feeling - he was really an excellent barman.

The front desk staff were very helpful, however, they found it difficutl to handle only one customer at a time and we were always left hanging about as the receptionist tried to help somone else at the same time. This became quite frustrating as it happened on almost every occasion when we had to go there.

I would definitely stay there again if I was ever in Zermatt as it was such an ideal location for everything.

The lobby, dining room and hotel rooms are outdated (a neighbouring person typified the diningroom as a 'cheap conference centre'). The rooms at the front are to be avoided as these the street can be noisy and the smell of Macdonalds is signalled at the balcony. The balconies at the front did not have any furniture.
The quality of the breakfast buffet is good. However, do not book halfboard as diner in the dining room is very, very poor and definitely needs to be upgraded.
Our stay became more enjoyable as we could switch rooms. Also the wellness and swimming pool are comfortable. Staff is overall friendly and accomodating.
Next time, we will stay in another hotel, like the bigger brother of Schweizerhof : Mont Cervin Palace.

This was the second stop on our 2 week European vacation with our 2 teenage daughters (18 & 13). We were thrilled to find that the hotel was a very short walk from the train station. We did not stay in the main hotel, but rather in their Residence across the street. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with full kitchen, living room, and 1 1/2 baths. It was absolutely lovely and our daughters loved it because there was plenty of room for everyone to have some space. My husband loved the views from the balconies. I loved the full kitchen - we shopped at the grocery store & cooked dinner one night, and also packed meals for our daily excursions. We had breakfast daily in the main dining room ( have to say that swiss coffee is a disappointment). The girls like the internet access in the lobby which they used every day:-) The concierge was very helpful to us & the front desk staff very kind.

The decor reminded me of Ikea type furnishings. Everything was of course, very clean & well-kept - it's the Swiss way:-)

We had a great stay here & would highly recommend it.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in July 2007. Staff excellent rooms wonderful food not so good. I would stay here again .and just have B&B. Highly recommended.
