The hotel management and staff were friendly and efficient.
A lovely 3rd floor room, very comfortable with large armchairs, decent sized balcony with a magnificent view of the Matterhorn.
Hotel facilities included a swimming pool and jacussi, drying room etc.
Breakfast and dinner were very good and served in the chalet style restaurant.
Comfortable and pleasant bar area shared by guests and local ex mountain guides.
Unfortunately this was the time of the year(mid season) when all the maintenance work takes place in Zermatt,buildings,mountain lifts etc. We did still manage the Gornergrat,and the scenery is still wonderfull but avoid visiting mid May.
Next time we will return in Mid June as in previous years! We will definately stay at the Alpenroyal

Great view of Zermatt from outside the hotel - high on the hill. Rooms were nice sized, clean and comfortable. Nice comfortable bed - rooms were all different.

To access the main part of Zermatt - you need to cross the street to another hotel - take an elevator to the bottom which enters into a tunnel and walk through the man made tunnel.

Small rooms some of which have a balcony and views of the Matterhorn. Beginning to show signs of wear and tear but still comfortable. The location of the hotel makes access a litlle difficult and is via a lift that serves an adjacent hotel. The staff are friendly and cooperative, attending to and repairing a faulty shower rose promptualy. We received second helpings for an included dinner and overall would recommend a stay at this hotel.
