The Hotel Vianen is a largemoderm stylish 2-3 storey hotel (motel) overlooking the main road at Vianen, a few miles south of Utrecht. Very Good Value.

Rooms good, Restaurant VERY good. Wifi is OK value at EU25 for the week (compared to EU22 a day at NH Hotels!!!). Good bar. No Gym or Pool though, and nothing to visit within walking distance in the eveings other than an adjacent petrol station.

Restaurant is large and busy, lively almost. with plenty of good attentive staff. Quite a change from most hotels to see the restuarant maybe 70-80% full every night. I think many were non residents coming for an evening meal. meals we good value, avergaing EU12-20 for a good meal, large portions with plenty of vegetables etc. Again, a nice change from most hotel restaurants.

Highly recomended if you are driving, convenient for all main roads and easy to get to.

However, beware Taxi costs if you are travelling any distance daily by taxi. a few kms journey was EU10, Utrecht seemed to cost around EU35, and Schiphol Airport around EU60-90.

No wonder the local Taxi drivers were swanning us around in BMW 5-series, X5, S-Class Mercedes etc!! (I would rather pay half the price and be driven around in a Fiat Panda)
