We chose this Ibis hotel after reading many reviews for different accomodations in Amsterdam on trip advisor. We (myself & two female friends) got a triple room for 109 Euro/night which was pretty reasonable.
The hotel isn't right at the center of town but I found it to be less hectic than the touristy area. It was a two city block walk from the tram stop which isn't bad unless you have heavy luggage (like we did). The hotel was clean like any other chain hotel and the front desk staff members were friendly.
We got a room on the back side of the hotel, bottom floor. I really felt like it was a cabin on a cruise ship! It was small, with a teeny bathroom and was right on the canal! But it was cozy and I have no complaints about the room in general.
The only complaint I have is about a large group of tourist making a huge ruckus in the morning on our floor. I think that a lot of tourist groups stay here, so be forewarned about the potential for noisy neighbors.
We felt safe walking to/from the hotel. There is a grocery store about a block away.
