We chose this Ibis hotel after reading many reviews for different accomodations in Amsterdam on trip advisor. We (myself & two female friends) got a triple room for 109 Euro/night which was pretty reasonable.

The hotel isn't right at the center of town but I found it to be less hectic than the touristy area. It was a two city block walk from the tram stop which isn't bad unless you have heavy luggage (like we did). The hotel was clean like any other chain hotel and the front desk staff members were friendly.

We got a room on the back side of the hotel, bottom floor. I really felt like it was a cabin on a cruise ship! It was small, with a teeny bathroom and was right on the canal! But it was cozy and I have no complaints about the room in general.

The only complaint I have is about a large group of tourist making a huge ruckus in the morning on our floor. I think that a lot of tourist groups stay here, so be forewarned about the potential for noisy neighbors.

We felt safe walking to/from the hotel. There is a grocery store about a block away.

“OK but nothing special”

Ibis Amsterdam City Stopera

The Hotel is in an ideal position. It is far enough away from the centre but is only a 30 minute walk to Ann Franks house which is the other side of the central part of Amsterdam. The hotel and rooms are clean and tidy although they never removed used coffee cups from the room whilst we were there. We had to bring these up from breakfast as there are no tea making facilities in the room. The breakfast is quite expensive at 13 Euros each and I feel it isn't worth it.
Our room was at the back with nice views over a canal which was very quiet. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a good large shower. Overall, the hotel was OK but nothing special.

“Ideal, Clean and Friendly”

Ibis Amsterdam City Stopera

We stayed at the Ibis Stopera in Amsterdam for our Anniversary. Despite being 10-15 mins walk from Dam Square, its also nice to be out of the hussle and bustle. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is £8 each, but its on your doorstep, clean and plentiful. We would reccomend Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant (where we went for our Anniversary). Set menu is £30 and worth every penny. Also, a superb restaurant on Damraak (just off Dam Square) is "Grouchos" - an Argentinian steak house. Absolutely superb .. and to be honest .. better than ant steak we have EVER had !. Amsterdam is great fun, a lot of walking, and expensive to drink. Even water is 2-3 euros (£1.50-2.00) per bottle. Beer/wine is £4 just about everywhere. Definately recomend the hotel (ask for a rear room that over looks the canal - nice and quiet) !

stayed at the hotel from the 12th of june until the 15th. everything about the hotel was well above average. our room was ready when we arrived at 8 am and we were allowed to check in. room was in the back overlooking the water. it was lovely and thankfully, air-conditioned. There was a heat wave in Amsterdam and the temperatures were in the 80's. the hotel made sure we had 2 separate beds as requested. The bedding and the shower was wonderful. The staff, I cannot say enough about. These young men and women were so patient with everyone. They made all kinds of calls for us to get reservations in certain restaurants. Circled maps for us detailing the way for us to get to anywhere we wanted to go. Never rushing anyone that was waiting to ask questions or check in or out. My sister-in-law had a knee problem and every night when we came back to the hotel we stopped at the bar for ice. They were always accommodating. The hotel was very busy at this time with people watching the world cup in the restaurant and bar. but they never made you feel as though you were a nusance to them. We knew when we booked this hotel that it was kind of an economy hotel. Other than not luxury bath items or large closets, or coffee making equipment in the room, the staff, location, cleanliness, air -conditioning, more than make up for these other things. I would love to visit Amsterdam again and once more stay at this hotel. Thanks to everyone who wrote reviews before we finally booked. The hotel was recommended to us by someone who lives and works in Amsterdam, and judges hotels by american standards.

We stayed in the Ibis City Stopera from 19-21 May and once we got our bearings, realised we couldn't have booked a hotel in a better location. All areas are accessible either by tram, foot or water taxi and is in a quiet area. The rooms are not huge but I've seen smaller but they are spotless, with one of the most comfortable beds I've stayed in (and you get a quilt !!) The shower takes up most of the space in the bathroom. It's huge, it's also the best shower I've ever had (even better than the one at home). Staff are very friendly and offer a city map and general advice when checking in. Breakfast was listed as "American breakfast" and there was ample to choose from. Cereals, different breads, toast, cooked breakfast, cheese, meat, juices. We arrived earlier than check in and left later than check out and they provide storage space for cases. Regarding previous comments about the hotel being too noisy. Yes, we heard people walking down the corridors, yes we heard other guests doors closing but I've never been to a hotel and not heard such noises. The hotel was full and not everyone goes to bed at the same time so its expected!!! Do I have anything negative to say about the hotel? No it was perfect. Would I stay there again? Definately.
