We stayed at this hotel 3rd March 2007. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpfull. The rooms were lovely and clean as were the beds with very white crisp bed linen. We were in the 6 persons room which had plenty room even for 5 girls and a guy. The bathroom was a little bit small, but for the price you can't expect 5*. Even the tram drivers on the way back to city centre were very friendly and made a fab impression on my friends who, had not been to Holland before.

This little hotel is very nice. You get everything what you need for a very low price.
The rooms are not very big, but it's enough to sleep and taking a shower ;) - most of the time you have to do other things in amsterdam...

You can take a 2min walk to the great zoo of amsterdam. And with the Line 9 you can travel directly from the Central Station to the Hotel (Plantage Kerklaan).

We were 4 persons from Austria an spent 3 nights in this hotel. The breakfast was perfect and the people of the hotel very friendly and helpful. Also the rooms were clean.

Book this hotel... it's enough, why pay more for some days of joy ;)

My husband and I spent 5 nights at this hotel in September. Price was our primary object but based on other reviews we were a little worried about this hotel. It is located near the zoo and is no more than a 20 minute walk to any of the tourist areas. The area is a very quiet residental area and it would probably be too far outside the bar scene for the young crowd that wants to party all night. During the day there was construction going on at the parking garage across the street. There quite a few reasonable priced restaurants moments from the hotel and the pizza place right on the corner is excellent for people watching. The rooms are very small but clean (It reminded me very much of my son's dorm room at college). The stairway is typical dutch, narrow and steep, breakfast a little on the "dry" side with bread, one egg, 2 slices of cold cuts, 2 slices of cheese, tea or coffee (juice extra) per person but internet access is high speed and cheap, staff is excellent. For the price I would choose this hotel again.

The main problem was that the building opposite had major building work going on so we were woken at 8am by a lot of building noise. Obviously when you are on holiday you don't want to get up so early every day!
We thought this hotel looked ok on the website and it was a little more expensive than we normally pay when we go to Amsterdam. When we got there, we were disappointed, the room was small and there was only one, thin, flat pillow per person. It was quite far out from the centre.
The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was ok, but if you want an orange juice you have to pay.
There are definately better budget hotels in Amsterdam
