Stayed at the Park Plaza for a couple of nights when we went to a big dance event at the Jaarbeurs. I found the staff courteous, the room acceptable and the general environment in the hotel to be quiet, clean and pleasant. The bar area is always lively enough though. Utrecht is a nice enough town and the hotel is a short walk from the old centre and the bars etc. Noticed no junkies although the underpass under the train line is abit gloomy. The area was very safe even at 1am in the morning and we never had any hassle. We paid 168 euros for the two nights which was alright for what we got.

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend. Its a nice hotel and near to the centre. We didn't have problems with junkies but they do congregate near train stations all over Holland. The room was nice and clean, and had all the facilities you would expect except a kettle.
The only problem we had was that we didn't realise breakfast wasn't included in the price. I only had a small breakfast from the buffet, there was lots to choose from, but when we went to check out, it turned out the breakfast was 17 euro per person. So if you aren't very hungry its a lot to pay.

Stayed here as a change from Amsterdam for 2 nights.

I found the hotel to be very modern, clean, with very friendly, helpful staff . We had a front room which was sufficiently sound proofed. I would expect the rooms facing the railway to be similar.

The rooms were very confortable with a modern bathroom.
They served an adequate breakfast with fruit and hot and cold items.

It is well located 5min from the station. Go down the steps at the end of the platform into a subway and turn left, as you come out of the subway left again and the hotel is 200m on your right. The hotel is about 10-15 min walk from the centre of town.

As a prevoius review states there are a couple of dubious people around the subway that you use to go to town, but there was at steady flow of cyclists around and we were not bothed by any of them.
If you are returning to the hotel from the centre very late I am sure a taxi would not cost too much if you had any concerns.

Beware! Located next to a homeless/junkies shelter (as mentioned by another reviewer)/ I stayed there when I was going to an outdoors music event, so I was wearing casual clothes and did not have much problems with the junkies who were out apparently making drug deals in doorways/behind bushes-- besides the usual hassles of trying to sell me a homeless magazine, asking for a handout But if you wear a business suit/dress and walk to the hotel late in the evening from the nearby train station you might potentially have trouble -- despite the CCTV -- because the area is pretty deserted.
The hotel was clean -- though probably not a 4-star one as it claims. Had problems checking out as the computer had mistakenly added breakfast to my bill (which I did not have -- hardly worth it at 17 euros!) and it took a long time for me to convince the night clerk there was a mistake.
