messy hotel in tall grey appt.building, that has changed premisses by now to a different location in town (?they were supposed to do so by march 2009 ?), narrow stairs, no elevator, messy reservations, constantly changings rooms up and down (despite of advanced booking from another stayokay) bunch of "bad drunk & else" guys around the hostel lounges, felt unsafe, showers: dirty; food, breakfast acceptable, some of the stuff: tried to be friendly (helpers & cleaners) but no coordination among them; some of them behaved like "burned out" & stressed. The "boss" / managment had their "nose" stuck up the air...kitchen stuff OK.
Laundromat OK, situation:central in doubtful neighbourhood (am not a scared chicken) metro around the corner...way way too expensive !
btw reservation's confusion seems something that they are very prone to in general at other stayokay hostels ...mistakes with meals reservations & info.about meals semms to be contradictory. Groups take over, and YOU, the customer is left out in the last minute & hardly without any warnings ...the answer from managment is usually: "their word aginst yours"....I stayed often in Youth hostels (both in the Netherlands and else where in europe, with a young child and even paid less in some "big hotel chains" like "Mercure" who had better deals ! except for a few rares ones I would StayAway from the "Stay-not-OK's" Harlem & Arnhem's ones were the "bests" pittiful was Bunnik one (Utrecht) , den Haag & Rotterdam's. A pitty !
