The building and everything in it is totally new. It is a really nice place. Staff is really friendly and well organised. They advised me to park the car, free of charges, near the Schelde, walking distance from the hostel.
I booked a bed in the dormitory. The room has lockers where you can stow away your valuables. The bunkbeds are also very new so they do not screech whith every movement. Big windows, from floor to ceiling provide a lot of light. There are very good curtains to ensure that people do not wake when the sun rises. Very nice showers! The breakfast is buffet style, so you can eat as much as you want.
The place is very near the city centre and the river Schelde. Lots of pubs, restaurants and shops around. Although I am not a shopper myself, I guess Antwerpen is a shoppers' paradise! It certainly is a nice place to stay and hit the pubs as I did with my roommates Michael (CAN) and Sean (AUS). Thanks for this experience, mates!
