Just returned from a four day stay at the Amigo and have to agree with the majority of reviews that the hotel is excellent. Previous reviews just about sum up the basics of the Hotel but for one new addition ,whilst we were staying they have replaced the old style tv's with new flat panel screens and internet keyboards

ServiceWe really loved the hotel. The location could not be better. We arrived to find a very substantial box of chocolates in our room. The buffet breakfast was wonderful. The rooms are small but they did change our room and we did see another family making a similar change.

I had no idea when I booked this hotel for a weekend, how fantastic it was going to be and what a wonderful location it has.
It is in the best location possible and I just cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a beautiful red brick building taking up a whole block, with a fantastic corner entance with several concierges on hand at all times. It is literally 15 seconds walk from Grand Place and 25 seconds walk from Manneken Pis. All rooms seem to overlook something beautiful and our room, on the third floor, looked out over the lively cobbled Stoofstraat.
On arrival, a few minutes walk from the Centraalstation, we were politely booked in and shown to our room by Massimo, who informed us that anything we wanted, he would help with.
The room was beautiful and had everything. Spotless and faultless. I am a fusspot but couldn't fault anything here. The room was spacious yet cosily comfortable. Twin beds pushed together with pristine white cotton covers and big comfy pillows, all changed daily. I have never had a more comfortable nights sleep in any hotel, even better than my own bed!.
Now to the extras that made this hotel great. A huge console desk held a TV with satellite stations (including BBC 1 and 2) and local radio, a phone, internet connection (for a fee), a large table lamp, writing paper and pen, a current TV magazine and reading material for the hotel.
Lighting in the room included bedside lamps, table lamp, lamp stand, concealed ceiling lights, wall lights. There were two easy chairs, a table, lovely decor all round, great artwork on the walls and it was tasteful and expensive looking. The bedside table held another phone. There is air conditioning and temperature controls for the room. The window opens fully or just a tad to let air in, but it was very quiet, despite being central.
The housekeeper left us a little weather chart each day, telling us what to expect, Belgian chocolates were left on our bedside tables at night, the bed was 'turned down' and the room tidied whilst we were out (this was after being cleaned in the morning), complimentary mineral water and newspaper were provided each day. There were fluffy white bathrobes and new white slippers. A laundry service was available. There were fantastic large wardrobes with instant lighting, trouser press, fancy hangers, a suitcase stand, stocked fridge, safe, full length mirror, carrier bags - nothing is missed out in this place!
The bathroom was superb. Large and all marble and chrome. A large bathtub, bidet, basin, shower and hand shower, underfloor heating, towel heater, speaker system from the TV, lighted magnifying mirror, hairdryer, towels (changed each day), full range of bath and hair products and soaps, tissues, cotton wool, even a shower cap and sewing kit! Something to note is the artwork of the fantastic TinTin and Snowy on the wall!
You really could turn up here with just a few clothes and your toothbrush!
The rest of the hotel was fantastic, quiet and sophisticated, beautiful flagstones, I suspect from the old streets of Brussels, a magnificent 'Tulip' staircase, banqueting suite, a wonderful lounge with a pianist in the evenings, a bowlful of apples to help yourself, the staff willing to help with maps and advice and a wonderful, relaxing, calming atmosphere all round.
I really can't praise this place highly enough and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did. I could happily have stayed indoors for the weekend. Oh, and the rest of Brussels, including the TinTin museum, Grand Place and Manneken Pis, are fantastic!

On arrival room one room wasn't ready, (1pm)however dropped bags in other room and was brought up the key almost immediately. v near the central square and near central train st.
conceirge gave recommendation for restaurant which was awful, hospital food so the 2nd night we actually ate in hotel. v expensive but service was excellent and food altough small dishes was out of this world. Ate the following day in the bar. lovely food expensive again but service was briliant. polite and attentive.
The rooms were v.clean comfy beds, no noise from outside even though we were at the front of the hotel. breakfast was v. expensive at 18euro pp. however we got it delivered to one room and shared between 4. there was plenty.
Bathroom was lovely clean and warm. think they must have headed floors.
We had mentioned that it was a birthday and a beautiful fresh fruit cake was delivered while we were out.
fold down service is a nice touch with slippers left out and choc.
weren't rushed out on morning of dept and had to hang around hotel for the day due to injury and they didn't have the attitude of "you have checked out so we don't really have to care now". They minded bags and helped with all contacts with airport/airline which we needed.
I really couldn't fault this hotel.
