I have just checked out of this 'hotel' and I must admit that I am getting a sort of sadistic pleasure from writing this review from their 'Business Centre'. Maybe you are wondering - why the explanation marks - it's because everything in this place is an imitation. Four stars? Come on... I arrived, room had an awful odour, I saw five more, all with a very poignant smell. Every room I saw had mould on the walls, calc on the taps, stained carpets, bed linen that looked like it had been picked up from an orphanage 'Everything Must GO!' sale and staff that - well - I can't even describe them. The first night, I came in to the night porter, tallish Belgian guy, he saw me and walked off - subsequently leaving me waiting for ten minutes, when he came back he uttered 'Wha' u wan?' I asked him if he thought his manner was in line with the four star rating - he looked at me, shrugged and said - in the most aggressive tone I have heard in a long time 'Live with it'. I wanted to enquire about corporate rates, no one could show around the rooms - I needed clean towels - I was told that I had to have the ones I was given - The minibar was empty even though it was a 'Business Suite' - The 'fitness' room (5 machines) with its 'Panoramic Views' - Really? Panoramic? No, No, No - lie after lie after lie. Regarding the staff - all i can assume is they are paid awful money and so find it necessary to take it out on the customers. There were three great people; Dutch girl on the front desk, day clerk and the doorman, unfortunately, them being nice just didn't make up for the absolute abismal quality of this 1970's - esque hotel. If you have settled for the Bedford Hotel, pick somewhere else, the neighborhood is dangerous - I speak from 17 years Belgian experience and this place is appalling. It is such a shame to have this diabolical establishment ruining Brussels and I am sure, making tourists regret ever visiting the capital.
The most annoying thing about the hotel is that everything is so easily 'fixable' - A few losses of staff, a couple of training days and a lick of paint and it would be 'livable'.
The bottom line is that this hotel is worth 1 Star and what with the potential of this hotel - view its proximity to the town centre - it is a wasted building.
