The Novotel sits in a busy square containing several other hotel chains, a minute's walk from the Grand Place in the centre of Brussels. The hotel's decor is very modern, with bright colours and flat screen TVs in the lobby displaying hotel and room rate info.

Check-in was excellent, very friendly and simple. Keycard operated the 3 lifts for extra security. My room (405) on the 4th floor was rear facing - looking toward the fabulous Cathedral and Le Meridien Hotel. It was quite large, with separate wc and bathrooms, toiletries, large bath with stand-in shower, porch area with separate door into the bedroom, wardrobe, mini bar, tea/coffee facilites, flat screen remote TV, writing desk, large sofa, air con and double glazing.

My rate included breakfast and I thought it was great. Lots of choice, plenty of fresh fruit, a reasonable hot selection, and for the 1st time I've seen - Actimel Yoghurt drinks!

Being only 5 mins walk from Brussels Central rail station is an added incentive to stay here, and with most of Brussels' tourist sights within 30mins walk of the hotel I highly recommend you give it a try. For me it's full marks Novotel.

“Good hotel in excellent location - recommended”

Five of us needed an overnight stay in Brussels before catching a Eurostar train to London; we chose the Novotel off Grand' Place on the basis of TripAdvisor recommendations, and weren't disappointed. The location is great: in the historic centre of Brussels with the Grand' Place area, museums, galleries, shops and restaurants within five minutes' walk, but less than 10 minutes by taxi from Bruxelles-Midi station and the Eurostar terminal. We'd booked online and when we arrived there seemed to be two rooms reserved for each of us (a fault with the booking process, not the hotel); the efficient and very helpful staff at the desk soon sorted this out. Rooms were clean, well-maintained and comfortable, with several plus points: plenty of accessible power sockets, tea/coffee-making facilities, and excellent quiet air-conditioning which meant one could sleep with the windows closed without overheating. This is important since the location is lively and therefore pretty noisy outside, but the hotel itself was very quiet. The standard tariff advertised in the hotel is not cheap, but there are many good deals available online. Our package included the buffet breakfast, which was good quality (lovely fresh fruit salad) and varied, including some hot dishes and plenty of choice of breads, pastries, cheeses, cold meats, cereals, yogurts, preserves, fruit etc. Our only criticism, mentioned by a previous reviewer, was the real problem with getting hot drinks at breakfast; the hotel would benefit from making this process self-service, like the rest of the buffet, by installing drinks dispenser machines.

For a family of four, this convenient hotel was a great find, especially at the online non-refundable booking rates. It was clean, spacious by European standards and accomodated two children. I especially liked the concierge's recommendations for dinner and the early morning staff jumped at the chance to prepare us coffee and juice for our very early morning start (4:15) to the airport. At 85 Euro a wonderful place to stay.

“Avoid breakfast!”

Stayed 2 nights on a business trip and paid eur 95 per night (website promotion) + eur 15 breakfast. Hotel recently redecorated, modern and stylish atmosphere, room was very pleasant, good size, modern style (looked very new) excellent bed (firm mattress, quilt duvet) and gave a very nice impression. Air conditioning worked very well which is rare in hotels, and was a real plus with the heat wave. Although right in the city centre the hotel was very quiet, but my room was on the back, I suppose front rooms can be noisy? My only concern was the breakfast. Not good value at eur 15 for a standard buffet, also one cannot get hot drinks at the buffet, the staff are supposed to bring tea or coffee at your table but they are unable to serve all customers. On the first day I got my tea as I was about to leave, and on the second day got no drinks at all as the staff were too busy. Frustrating and stupid. I recommend to go and get breakfast in one of the numerous cafés across the street. Otherwise a very pleasant hotel and wonderful location in the centre of all attractions, good value if you get one of their special rates around eur 100, but full price is around eur 200 which is clearly too expensive.
