“An act of God”

Conrad Brussels

On a sundaymorning, after a very comfortable stay in the hotel, i retrieved my brand new Audi A6 from the hotelgarage only to find out that paint and water from the ceeling had been leeking for 2 days on my car. Still convinced that the great hotel would continue to provide me with great service I drove up to the Concierge for assistance. And assistance I got: the guy had a lot of humour and explained to me that I was victim of an act of God and could not expect any help from the hotel. Also the manager on duty turned down any responsability. After a long discussion they offered to clean the car, after 2 hrs I received it back: now it was realy seriously dammaged as they used sandpaper like towels to remove the stains!

To make a long story short: The car was a leasecar and the leasingcompany made it a case at court, the case ran for over 1 year but finally the won.

Stayed for a conference so didn't see much of it! However, very nice. Food in the hotel was excellent - most amazing buffet I've ever seen. Ice rink in lobby for the Christmas period was fun.
Staff, especially front-desk, very friendly.
Note - lots of minor royals and celebs staying here so sometimes feel a little 2nd class (though not from the staff) as their security sweep past clearing youout of the way. Slightly further out of town than say the Merridien so probably a taxi ride away.
Room was fair size and clean. Nice bathroom.

This is the second time I stayed at this hotel and to be honest, it is on par with other Conrad Hotels globally. That said, if you are in a standard or deluxe room, the decor is tired and needs renovation. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was upgraded to the next category from deluxe which is a Premier room. These rooms have been recently renovated and are not as tired looking as the lower categories and is what I expect from a Conrad. Service was impeccable thoughout the hotel. Remember if you are a smoker, this is one of the few 5 star hotels in Brussels that are NOT entirely smoke free so I was able to get a smoking room. The Spa facilities with indoor pool was excellent even if it is managed by a third party company (Aspira).

“If you think this hotel has a pool or a spa, think again.”

Conrad Brussels

Of course, if you look at their home page, or even if you speak to reservations (!), they'll assure you they have a pool and spa.

Entirely false.

Here's why: the pool and spa exists and can be accessed through the hotel, but is managed by an entirely different private company. The hotel has no control or even information on the closing days and conditions applied to pool and spa.

For example: pool closed on Dec 25th and no children under 16 accepted at any time.

You would think the hotel would at least stay informed, but, no, they take your hotel reservation assuring you children are accepted and the pool is always open.

Just don't book this hotel for its facilities, and don't expect any rebate if you got trapped by their misleading information.

They don't know what a commercial gesture is. They just know how to bill you the most expensive, stuffy, unimaginative rooms in Brussels.

Classy hotel. Polite and professional front of house staff. Very Good!

The bedrooms are very spacious and the king size beds are so comfortable.

Only negative point is that some of the bedroom decor was a little tired, however, I did get a cheap deal for the standard of hotel! Worth every penny.

Location is ideal if you want to shop and the main square for all the bars and fish restaurants is only a 5minute taxi journey.

Food and beverage is expensive, but you expect to pay for quality.

I highly recommend you stay in a 5star hotel in Brussels as most of the lower star hotel and restaurant properties are shocking on service. (probably the worst in Europe?)

I would definately stay in the Conrad Brussels again and I also recommend you pay that little extra for a special occasion.
