I think I'll do this in 2 stages, first the good
The location was really good, the square that the hotel is set on is lovely, with lots of fantastic chocolate shops, art galleries, antique shops and a few bars and restaurants. It is approximately 5/10 minutes walk to the Grand Place.. The hotel is adequate for a short stay. After seeing quite a lot of Brussels I think this location is the best, Ste Catherine isnt as nice as they make out and Avenue Louise is a bit of a trek from the Grand Place.
Then the bad, I wasnt all that impressed with this hotel at all. It is expensive (and we didnt pay full rates) , you dont get breakfast included, I never understand why hotels dont include breakfast because it is so cheap to offer in the grand scheme of things and people appreciate it and its makes you think you are getting something for your money.
When we were allocated a room we got one on the 2nd floor at the back of the hotel, apparently all the standard rooms are there. It was dark, with no view, except of another wall of the building. I went back to reception to see if they would change me room and they said they couldnt unless I paid a supplement. as the rooms at the front were larger. This again is something I dont understand, a larger room costs the same to clean and if it not being used for the night I think upgrades should always be given. its is good for customer satisfaction and they are more likely to go back to that hotel and recommend it to friends. So we didnt get a better room. The room itself was clean, with large bed, tv decent bathroom etc, but as explained previously was very dark and I really wasnt that bothered for it.
I think that if you dont mind paying for a larger room and breakfast then this would be a nice hotel to stay in. It wasnt for me though.
