“I'm a hotelier get me out of here!”

I posted a negative review for this hotel already. In fact it was so resoundingly negative it wasn't posted by the website. So this time I've decided to to keep it short and sweet. Avoid this hotel at all costs (including monetary). Simply pay the extra to stay somewhere else. Our stay at this hotel was uncomfortable from beginning to end. I'm all for saving money on a hotel when you're on holidays as all you' re looking for is some basic degree of comfort and hygiene. This hotel failed spectacularly to provide either of the above. The high point of our short break in Brussels was checking out of this horrible hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE.

“Great Hotel”

We just returned from a week in Brussels and really enjoyed our stay at Chamboard. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the underground and within walking distance from the European Parliament and shopping ameneties. On check-in I was pleasently surprised to find that breakfast was complementary! We had business room with separate beds for the kids. The room itself was very neat, clean and spacious. The breakfast next day was stumptous.
I would definately recommend Chamboard.

This hotel is in a good location, right next to the Porte Namur metro station and easy walking distance to the shopping and tourist attractions. It looks very nice from the street and the reception area is pleasant and tasteful. The reception staff and the catering staff were also very pleasant and helpful and spoke perfect English.

Those are the good points. The interior of the hotel itself is grim. I arrived at about 6pm on Saturday and was given a room on the first floor. It was tiny and grubby, with a horrible polystyrene tiled ceiling. There were holes in the ceiling tiles, the toilet was filthy and the shower did not work, nor did the television or the desk lamp. The window looked out on to the bottom of a narrow shaft filled with air conditioning units and scattered with litter and cigarette butts. There was also an unpleasant smell. I rang reception immediately to complain and the receptionist seemed totally unsurprised and said that there were no spare rooms that night but they would move me to a different room the next day. I got the impression that he was accustomed to this sort of complaint.

The next day I was moved to a room on the 6th floor. The room itself was not much better, although everything worked and there was no bad smell, but I had a french window and a balcony so I was able to open the curtains and let some air in. As others have said, the hotel is way overheated and the first night was suffocatingly hot.

The breakfast on the first day was quite good, well cooked bacon and scrambled eggs, hot coffee and plenty of bread, juice, pastries etc. The second day was not so good, rubbery egg, semi cooked bacon and cold coffee, plus the pastries had run out. So that seems hit and miss.

I should also mention that the bar does not open at the weekend, and room service does not really exist, there is a vending machine in reception that is mostly empty and that is it.

I would not stay here again. For the price I could have got a bog standard travel lodge type room, and I would rather that and know that everything would be clean and decent than a run down hotel like this. It is a shame, as the staff were great and so is the location. It needs a total refurb.

“Very Nice, Great Value, Good Location!”

Hotel Chambord

Very nice hotel! Contemporary in style! Couldn't believe the value for the price. The staff was more than accomodating. We traveled with two small children and the room they gave us had two additional single beds at no extra fee. The hotel is right across from the Metro and there are plenty of places to eat and lots of high end shopping close by. Can get to the Lower Town about 10-15 minute walk. Definitely very conveniently located! Would definitely recommend and stay at this hotel again. Can't comment on the breakfast since we didn't eat at the hotel.

“You couldnt swing a cat round in this room!”

Hotel Chambord

29 Feb 2008

We arrived at this hotel Saturday early evening and were impressed from the outside. We were given our key to room 71 on 7th floor and told where the lift was. Got in the lift and the first problem was it only went to 6. As you exit the lift there is no sign re 7th floor so returned to ground. Maid sent us up in the service lift and followed her directions..the back stairs up to 7th. Opened the door and could not believe how small the room was! About 6 inches space either side of the bed! The portable TV you nearly bang your head on as you walk in the door and a wardrobe you cant fully open the doors of as the bed is in the way! Went down and asked to change room and told hotel was fully booked. So thought we would put up with it. Next morning breakfast was a total fiasco. 7am to 10am. Turned up around 9.10 and there was almost nothing available. Had to clear our own table to sit down. A very small amount of cold scrambled egg, fruit juice in a jug on the side and some french bread. The ham and cheese trays were empty as were the croissant trays and no sign of them being replenished! We found out Monday morning that there should have been bacon too! Slightly better service on Monday although I did still have to go looking for someone to order our tea/coffee. Im sure they have some very nice rooms available in the hotel and I would have love to have seen one and what a mini bar looks like. One of my main reasons for booking this hotel was that it had a bar but when we asked we were told "No Bar". I wouldnt recommend this hotel to ANYONE!
