I missed the last Eurostar from Brussels to London and needed to stay somewhere near the station. The Ibis was across the road so I took my chances. The actual hotel was surprisingly nice and clean, as was the bistro bar with lovely Belgian dishes (very fair prices). The staff were also more than helpful and accomodating.

My room overlooked the station and even with the window shut it was incredibly noisy, cars, police sirens, trams and of course trains. As a lone travelling female I also found the surrounding area to be very dodgy. Looking out of the window it didn't take long to spot dealers and prostitutes!!!

I would only stay here again if I missed Eurostar again - but I wouldn't go out walking anywhere around the back streets in this area.

We stayed at this hotel in June of 2004. Coming from London made this hotel look like a 5 star. The hotel is right across the street from the train station. The area around the station is not the best but the room was spotless. Fantastic bathroom, very roomy and clean, you could take a shower and not have water going everywhere. The room had AC and was very large ( would compare to almost any budget hotel room in the US). Easy access to the subway. I had a room in the back of the hotel so it was very quiet. They have a bar right in the hotel. I did not use the breakfest feature as I thought it was a little high ( 9 euros per person). Staff were very helpful. The Ibis brand is a no frills hotel, which is fine I only ask for a clean quiet and safe place to stay which this hotel provides. They even had security at the door. You had to show your room key to enter. My experience here would lead me to stay at another Ibis hotel. In fact I am going to Innsbruck in the summer and will staying at the Ibis there. If I ever go back to Brussels I would stay here again!

The hotel itself was fine. Just a stones throw from Gare du midi station. The surrounding area was such a mess with rubbish everywhere and it was quite dark around the streets outside the hotel which made it a bit scary coming back late at night.There are loads of boarded up shops and graffitti covered buildings &it is quite a trek to walk from the hotel to the central plaza and you have to cross busy roads (make sure you know which direction the traffic is coming from). Brussels is beautiful and clean elsewhere it's just outside the hotel that really lets this one down.
The Ibis chain have a policy that it will take 15 minutes to fix any problem that occurs with your room ......... try 24 hours. No light in a windowless bathroom wasn't funny after a while. We eventually got a room change and after complaining when we got back they had the good grace to give us 2 free nites in London. So that was OK.
Staff brilliant (eventually) and breakfast cannot be faulted there was truck loads of it. Would recommend it if you don't worry about surrounding areas.

The hotel is located directly across the Gare du Midi. I paid EUR 95 plus EUR 10 for the breakfast. I booked the hotel because all other hotels in this price range were full. The rooms were okay (typical ibis), clean and practical, but no luxury. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful.The breakfast was good. As mentioned in other reviews the hotel is in a bad area.
