I booked a suite at this hotel for a weekend away. We arrived late Friday night and were very underwhelmed by the welcome which was just brisk businesslike and not welcoming at all.
The room was huge and decorated in a funky style there was a TV and what looked like a dvd player but we couldnt get either to work.
The enormous bathroom had a separate walk-in shower as well as a spa bath. However the room wasn't quite finished with wires hanging out and the spa bath only partly worked when i was in it. About 5 hours later I had a massive shock when it started off on it's own and without us touching it (and again the next day). The sinks did not drain water properly.

The safe was not secured to anything making it pointless but it didn't work either. We reported this to reception and were told someone would fix it whilst we were out. Nobody did and nobody from the staff mentioned this again. We didn't complain again as we were only there for the weekend.

Overall i think the hotel is overpriced and needs to look much more closely at the detail. Having said that it is in a great location and the decor makes it somewhere different and unusual to stay.

The hotel is in a great location, just across the road from a metro stop and very close to lots of restaurants. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful - recommending some good places to eat. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, although the cooked items were a little cold each day. We stayed in the Saigon room which was small and dark and not 'welcoming' at all, but it was very clean and the bathroom was exceptionally nice. It was very warm during our stay and we tried to sleep with the window open, but the noise of passing pedestrians kept waking us - we didn't get a really good sleep for a couple of nights of our stay. The hotel was reasonably priced and we were offered a 5% discount for paying cash. Although, a couple of nearby business style hotels (Novotel and Ibis) offer much cheaper rates if you are staying weekend nights - this might be a better bet if you are on a budget as we paid extra for a bit of 'character' but the room we got was a little too oppressive for our tastes.

“Amazing”

We were so impressed by this hotel. Michael is an amazing host and Oliver who was at the front desk was extremely helpful. I found that they went above and beyond to make sure we were having an enjoyable stay. We stayed in the Egypt room which was awesome. Super comfortable bed, nice soaker tub along with a beautiful shower. Yes, the TV was small however who goes to a hotel to watch TV other than to catch up on some CNN. The location is fabulous. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The pride of ownership definitly shows. This is the only hotel we will go to when we are in Brussels.

“A great little hotel”

Brussels Welcome Hotel

21 Jun 2008

We stayed at the Welcome Hotel for one night on June 10, 2008. We stayed in the Congo Room, which was decorated in African tapestries and fixtures. The bathroom was big and the shower had the strongest water pressure I experienced throughout all of Europe!
We were welcomed into the hotel by a lovely Belgian lady who showed us to our room. She then explained about the local tourist sites and provided us with a street map to see the sites.
The bed in the hotel room was very comfortable and there was little/no noise from the hall or the adjacent rooms.
Breakfast is served from 7:30am and includes the normal European fare of pastries and fruit - however at the Welcome Hotel you also get scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon too. While eating breakfast we observed multiple nationalities staying the hotel - German, Austrian, Spanish, English, American and Australian.
If you arrive from the metro/rail just get off at the Saint Catherine stop and the hotel is located at the top of the escalator to the street.

“Good hotel for the money”

Brussels Welcome Hotel

16 Jun 2008

We stayed at the Welcome for 2 nights upon our arrival in Brussels and then for 2 nights before our departure from Belgium, so we stayed in 2 different rooms. The rooms were small, the televisions were vintage 1975 12" models without much choice of channels. On the plus side, the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. The location is excellent, about 50 meters from the Metro station. There are dozens of very fine restaurants within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We recommend Babeko and Le Paon Royal, both a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

No air conditioning. About a 15 minute walk from The Grand Place (or take the Metro to get a little closer). Excellent free breakfast.

Overall, we recommed this hotel for budget minded tourists looking for a fair value, old style European hote.
