We wanted a hotel that was in a central location and Astrid Centre was ideal for that. As previous reviews have said it is basic but very clean. We didn't opt for breakfast as we thought it was expensive and there are loads of cafes and places to eat near bye.
The staff were friendly and allowed us to check in early as the rooms were ready.
I didn't ask for a non smoking room but I should have since the smell of smoke was very strong on our corridor.
Overall I have nothing negative to say about the hotel and it was definitely worth what we paid for it,

The side street of the hotel has a "pavé" instead of asfalt and there is a continuous movement of cars with people with the "night club" there located, which makes a continuous noise all night long. Furthermore the reception is reluctant to ask noisy groups of guests to calm down at night. It is NOT CALM at all.

We stayed here for one night between Christmas and New Year. We managed to get a fantastic rate for a city-centre hotel (€66), which was the deciding factor. The location is marvellous, being just round the corner from the fish market and Saint Catherine's Cathedral, and is close to two Metro stops.

The lobby looks as though it has had an expensive refit recently, and was very clean. The staff were courteous and professional. The room itself was reasonably spacious, quiet (we were at the back of the building) and clean. The decor was neutral and rather soulless.

Breakfast was a buffet, held in a large room on the ground floor, and was adequate. As it was included in the price we could not complain.

Overall I would say that the hotel is suited to a business traveller rather than a holiday-maker. It lacks any real character, so if you're looking for a romantic setting for a holiday, look elsewhere. If, however, you're looking for a clean, no-nonsense place to lay your head down then I would definitely recommend it if you can get a good price.

My wife and I stayed at the Astrid for a week in early Jan. We found the hotel to be basic; however, it provided all that we needed during the stay. The hotel is located two minutes from two Metro stops. There are numerous eateries that are easily accessible in the Fish Market. It is a short walk to the Grand Place and other tourist attractions. Two grocery stores are located with a five-minute walk as well.

The rooms are somewhat small, but the bed was comfortable and the shower water was always hot and had great pressure. The pillows are thin. Although, the front desk will provide you with more if asked. The included breakfast was better than most in Europe (it included eggs). However, after 1/20/08, guests will have to pay 8 Euros per person for breakfast.

Overall, If you are looking for an upscale hotel experience, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a great basic hotel that is central to transportation, food, and is responsive to requests, you can't go wrong with the Hotel Astrid Centre.
