“Good basic hotel in great location”

Centrale Hotel

18 Nov 2007

If you are looking for a clean basic hotel in a great location the Hespria is worth considering. As others have commented, the hotel is right by the metro/station centralle and within easy walking distance of most sights. I found the staff on the front desk to be very friendly and helpful, speaking many languages and recommending restaurants and sights to visit. The buffet breakfast was good and extensive - staff constantly re-filled the cold buffet items, although the hot selection was limited.

However if you are looking for the extra luxury and quality that comes with most 4 star hotels you may be a little disappointed. There are no major drawbacks just a series of minor niggles: decor is a little faded, bed was rather old, similarly the bed linen and towels had seen better days, the water was slow to drain from the sink and my room a bit dark as several bulbs had failed.

Overall I felt the hotel was a little expensive for the quality provided but if you are looking for a base in a great location the Hesperia is worth considering.

All round excellent stay courtesy of this hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly in the extreme.Facilities were above average and location superb; right beside metro and train station. Could not ask for better and will return first opportunity.

“Good Hotel, nothing special but nothing bad either.”

Centrale Hotel

29 Oct 2007

Stay - 3 nights / 2 days.

Location – It is just up the hill from the main train station, and a 10 minute walk to the Town Hall and the main square.

Room – It was a big room but a bit dark and run down. We faced out onto a side street that had construction work going on opposite. Didn’t hear the noise though with windows closed.

Food – They only serve breakfast – a simple setup, cereal and cold meats/cheese with a small selection of hot foods if you get there earlier enough.

Staff – Front desk staff only. Our only dealing with one of the staff was to find a shoe repairer (Mister Minit), a post office and somewhere to get a haircut. The information she gave us was accurate and correct.

Overall – The hotel suited our short stay in Brussels, not much time spent at the hotel, most of it was spent out site seeing. If this is all you need in a hotel then this place is fine, if you are looking for something that pampers you a little more, then look elsewhere.

“Pleasant stay at your average 3-4 star hotel”

Husband, 2.5 year old and me stayed here for 2 nights in late Oct 2007.

The hotel is your average hotel. It's definitely showing its age. But we thought it was a good value at room rate of 130 euro per nite (breakfast included). We got a junior suite: queen size bed and a seating area. The room was spacious enough. The stay was smooth. The location was very close to the cathedral and next door to the Gare du Midi station. Grand Place etc is 10 mins walk away.

We had nothing to complain about except that they put out this very strong smelling air freshener throughout the hotel. Thankfully not in the room, but in the hallways.

“great value, good location but could do with a bit of redecoration...”

Centrale Hotel

15 Sep 2007

Good room rate and convenient location (right next to the station). Breakfasts are reasonable. Free use of the internet in the lobby. There can be quite a bit of noise from the street during the night if you have the window open. Rooms and corridors could do with a bit of redecoration/modernisation. I prefer the other Hesperia hotel in Brussels (Hesperia Sablon).
