Booked through Eurostar website. got a cheap deal for 2 nights + train. Well impressed with the overall quality of the hotel. The hotel is situated just 1 min walk from nearest metro station. It's also close a variety of cafe and restaurants. takes around 15-20 mins walk to the grand place. It is not noisy as said in previous review. Hotel reception is very helpful and friendly. The hotel also has an outdoor garden where you can enjoy after a long day walks. Highly recommended.

PS: The hotel reception did mention about a total refurbishment of the hotel within the next year. So recommend to double check if it's under refurbishing before you go.

“Nice hotel, but bad location”

Sofitel Brussels Le Louise

The Sofitel is very nice but suffers from a crappy location. The hotel itself is modern and clean, with a VERY comfortable bed. The room was large (standard American size), and the bathroom was also a good size. The problem was with the location - the hotel sits on a very noisy street and is a 15-20 minute walk from the lovely Grand Place. There is nothing to do in Brussels besides the Grand Place, so you are missing the real essence of Brussels. I don't think I would have minded the walk so much, if at least our room was quiet. It was awful at night. Anyway, breakfast was included in our rate (we got a steal on Sofitel's website - 130 Eur/night!), and it was a very good spread.

“Xmas Markets”

14 of us stayed at the Sofitel Brussels Toison d'Or over 2 nights 1st & 2nd December for a 50th Birthday trip to visit the Xmas markets.

We booked direct with the hotel and got lovely double rooms at 75 Euros each night including breakfast. Bearing in mind the breakfast normally costs 25 Euros per person we got the room for 25 Euros per night. (Normal price 330 Euros per night!)

Agree it was a bit out of the action but it only a 15 minute walk by cutting through the park next to the Hilton Hotel and the Xmas experience with the light shows and stalls was amazing.

Hotel is 2 minutes walk from Louise Metro which is 3 stops from Gare Midi Eurostar.

Rooms were lovely with big fluffy beds and pillows, breakfast was something else as there was something for everyone from cereals, bread, eggs & bacon, smoke salmon and even chocolate dogs!.

If you opened the windows at the front of the hotel it is a bit smelly but fine out back.

Bar in hotel is expensive but there is a good sports bar just up the road and a few nice restaurants around the corner off the Avenue Louise.

Restaurants in and around Grand Place were either expensive or pushy to get you out ready for the next tourist and food was either tough or cold.

Would definately recommend this hotel at lower rates if you can get them.

“Unpleasant experience with Sofitel toison d'or”

Sofitel Brussels Le Louise

5 Dec 2006
3/12 found this review helpful

I booked two nights at sofitel toison d'or at 200 Euro not including breaskfast-which is overpriced. The hotel is nothing much--the location is so so --It is located in a business area which at night is empty, the cafes and (rather llow class chain eatereis nearby are closed by 10 PM. There are no interesting bars or restaurants in close proximity and it is not particularly pleasant or interesting to walk around. The Hotel reception is cold and unfriendly: it is really a business oriented hotel and I was a tourist visiting Brussels for the first time. After two nights I decided I would like to prolong my stay in Belgium and they said there is place available-no problem. However, in the morning of the third day the reception manager made a call and said suddenly thatI can have the room allright but for 265 Euro for the third day but the fourth day will be again priced at 200 Euro, as did the first two nights. I never had such an exerience of crass cynical greed, so I checked out and moved to centrally located hotel, near the grand place area. This was a nuisance and I am telling this story so prospective tourists who pay out of their own pockets will know what attitude to expect at Sofitel toison d'or.

    • Disliked — Nasty unethical attitude on the part of the hotel management--the fish stinks from the head!
    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Look for a place at the center-near the Grand Place-many nice hotels there-cheaper and much better than sofitel toison d'or
