In more ways then one. Upon arriving in the room after a very jet-lagged flight,we were greeted to the sound of the most melodic Gregorian chants. The sound grew with even greater acoustical pitch when I visited the bathroom. It took a very stressful 15 minutes to realize it was coming from the TV (the hotel station is on upon arrival, but it is a black screen). Once resolved (shut off the TV), I retreated to the most comfortable bed we experienced on our multi-country European vacation.
Great things: Most friendly and knowledgeable front desk employees, regardless of who was on duty when we needed them ( a true reflection of hotel management, nice job!), great shower pressure, modern, comfortable, spacious enough room, location off the main streets is a major PLUS ( a very short walk to Grand Place). Recommend the Onion Tarte at Arcadi nearby for brunch and the Belga Cafe was a magnificent dining experience recommended by front desk (pricey but definitely worth it), both a short walk from hotel.
Negatives: The shower is weird in that there is only one shower door. I immediately pointed this out to staff who assured me its was architecturally designed to prevent any water spill over. Not so much. Every shower resulted in significant amounts of water spilling onto the beautiful wood floors in the bathroom. We soaked it up with towels, but not the way a shower should work in a luxury hotel. However, biggest problem we experienced was the temperature in the room. During the day it was comfortable enough but at night, heated forced air was pumped into the room making it a very uncomfortable sleeping experience. Asked someone to look at it during the afternoon when the air was not being pumped into the room, said the hotel is not air-conditioned and you can't open any windows. Because everything else with this hotel was so great, I have to assume the problem was with us and never learned how to control the temp in the room. Would definitely return to this hotel October-March, but would have doubts April-September.
