“Great City”

Lovely City, lots to see and the people are friendly. Beer is quality and dangerously strong! My girlfriend enjoyed the chocolate. Food was good everywhere we went. A long weekedn is enough time to see most of what Brussels has to offer. Grand Place is well worth an afternoon. My girlfriend wanted to shop but it is expensive. Public transport was great.

I have just returned from a girls weekend away in Brussels.
Whilst the city itself is lovely, beautiful architecture, lovely bars and very clean, (apart from the graffiti that is sprayed everywhere)the people are a different matter.
The male population of Brussels must be oppressed in childhood, I was with Ladies ranging in age from 25 to 55 and all it seems are fair game.
Men in Brussels are of the opinion that if you are female it is ok to stare at you, to touch you and to call you names if you object.
All the websites give the impression that the metro is safe and easy to use, i would strongly disagree.
Using it on saturday night we were harrassed and called disgusting names by gangs of men, It is also filthy and stinks of urine.

“What a dump, but still a great place to drink.”

Brussels

24 Feb 2008

This is the second time I have been to Brussels in 6 years; first for my stag weekend, then for my future brother-in-laws. There are so many places to eat and drink. The Grand Place is amazing with its prestigious buildings, but step two minutes outside this area and you realise just how much of a dump it is. In fact you would never believe it was the central hub for Europe.

Bearing in mind I only went there for the drink, Brussels is a great place to go. However, if you are looking to take your partner or family away for a long weekend, I recommend that you take the train to central station, make the short walk to the Grand Place and soak up the atmosphere. Then get back on the train and head for Bruges. It’s a total contrast.

I have traveled in almost every major city in europe, and I have lived one year in Brussels. I find this city has a lot to offer, especially architectural elements, and a vast vast extensive collection of art, museums, and history. Brussels, however, is also the dirtiest most ghetto major city I know in Europe. I have been Berlin, Paris, London, Zurich, Barcelona, Milano, Amsterdam, Wiern, Budapest, Bucharesti, and a lot more.....but this city has less to offer than the one's listed above.
People here are very friendly and talkative when you don't know them, but they are very slow to take you in as a friend. I find that Belgians have for the most part an open mind, but it takes awhile to get the know that mind, and perhaps in many cases, far too late..............
I think the French and the Dutch have both treated me better in the long run......

“Europe's Capital Must Improve”

Brussels is a magnificent city with a lot of historical buildings, more than expected. However, there's a lot to improve for the Europe's political capital: there's no public toilettes available, be prepared to pay 0,30-0,50 € in some café's(in some cases there's no fee if you consume); average of Belgians not much friendly.
We recomend it, but Brussels certainly has to improve in matter of infra-structures for Tourists.
