I found Lut's B&B in Rick Steve's guide book and booked it via email. At that time I hadn't realised it was so highly celebrated in other publications i.e. Lonely Planet. I now know why. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights over a weekend in early May 2012 and were very impressed. On the day we were due to arrive I texted ahead to let Lut know what time we'd arrive and she was there to meet us when we rang the door bell. We were able to pull up in our hire care very nearby, but after dropping our bags were instructed we must drive to the central train station and park our car there in the undercover public carpark for about 4 Euro per day. At first we were a little surprised as we had thought we had arranged to park very nearby the house. However, on arrival at the station car park, we realised it wasn't that far away, was very cheap and secure, and allowed us to walk back through the centre of the old town and get our bearings. It was a great solution. The quality of the accommodation at the B&B was excellent. Aside from the funky design of the place, it was incredibly clean, comfortable, spacious, well equipped, safe, quiet and really well situated - it was so close to town that on a couple of occasions we popped back to our room to use the loo! The breakfast was delicious and plentiful; even the orange juice was freshly squeezed. I have read other entries which have mentioned noise from the breakfast room in the morning and this wasn't the case for us. Lut thoughtfully sets up the breakfast tables the evening prior so as to avoid any crockery clinking in the morning. That aside, breakfast is served from 08.30 which means one is able to sleep in until a reasonable time without disturbance. Lut did offer to do our breakfast earlier when we discussed the possibility of doing a day trip to Ypres which left town quite early - she was very accommodating of that. I couldn't recommend this B&B enough and if I were to go back to Bruges, I would absolutely stay there without giving it a second thought. Oh, and as for places to go for food, try Cambrinus around the corner to sample the Belgium beers and have some great pub food - but if you're around on a weekend, book ahead!
