“Fantasic stay in a great city and a great hotel!”

Oud Huis de Peellaert

Bruge is a wonderful city to visit, there was so much to see. We only spent three days there and would love to go back.

The hotel was very beautiful. The rooms are impressive and the staff were very helpful. We were origionally put in room 001 but having read a review on Trip Advisor about the noise of this room (ground floor, right by the stairs) we asked to be moved. They did this for us straight away and put us in lovely large room in a quiet part of the hotel. Throughout our stay the staff were very friendly and always spoke to us whenever we saw them.

Breakfast was great and there was plenty to eat. The breakfast room was very pleasant and the waitress was attentive.

Many people go to Bruge for the chocolate, beer and canals - and it does not disappoint. The best hot chocolate in the world can be found at De Proeverie, trust us this place is worth searching out. The beer is lovely - a trip around the brewery is well worth it especially as there is a beer thrown in at the end of the trip! Avoid drinking beer on the main square as it is relatively expensive. Also aovid eating on the squares as they are expensive and to our taste the food was very poor. We went searching just beyond the main tourist areas and found some little gems to eat at. Try to search out 'De Bekoring Brugge' which is a great little bistro - it is as if you were in their own home. The food was amazing and all home cooked.

This place is great to visit - we would highly recommend it.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. We took my aunt and uncle who were visiting from the USA for a short break. We also had our daughter with us who is a disabled young adult. From the moment we arrived we were very impressed. The welcome was friendly and professional. We were actually able to park on the road outside as it is free for anyone with a European Disabled Badge for the car (blue badge) - worth knowing if you are travelling with someone who has this. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Not luxurious but perfect for what we wanted. the whole hotel has been restored authentically and tastefully. The highlight of our stay was the manager (I think he was the manager!). We asked for help in booking a restaurant and he tried 3 or 4 before finding one and if he had not been able to book this one he had offered another which was a taxi ride away but said the taxi would be free. We met in the bar prior to going out and the manager showed my aunt and uncle around, pointing out interesting features of the refurbishment and explaining the history. We then arrived with our daughter and he interacted with us perfectly (it doesn't happen very often) and told us of the long history Bruges has in educating people with disabilities, particularly deaf and / or blind children and young adults. The manager made some suggestions for things to do the next day which would be suitable for all of us and endeared our daughter with the suggestion of the chocolate museum. Breakfast was a good quality buffet with waitress service for tea and coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Overall I would say if you are looking for luxury and extensive facilities (e.g. spa, restaurants) this is not the hotel for you. However, If like us, it was about informal professional service, comfort and convenience in a beautifully restored building, it was perfect. Thank you - we would definitely recommend.

“a wonderful stay”

Oud Huis de Peellaert

15 May 2008

I booked for three adults as a Eurostar package. We stayed in two standard rooms which were very comfortable with the most luxurious bathrooms. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and all are multilingual. The buffet breakfast included in the tariff is superb - a great way to start the morning`s exploration of this delightful old city. The hotel is centrally located, only a short distance to all places of interest but in a quiet side street. Booked as part of a two day Eurostar package I thought the price was an absolute bargain. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Brugges for a short holiday. A wonderful hotel in a wonderful city.

Early April 2008 we travelled to this Hotel by Eurostar to Brussels, then local train to Bruges. Great way to get there! This Hotel is well sited - very close to centre of Bruges. We could not fault the place! Standard room was excellent, the breakfast room extremely attractive and the food on offer was first rate. Every member of Staff we met was friendly, efficient and helpful. One slight problem, if (like my Wife) you are a light sleeper, then ask for a room overlooking the garden court at the rear of the Hotel, otherwise what little traffic/outside noise there is could be a nuisance. As retired "runabouts" we highly recommend this Hotel !!

First, the positives - hotel is very nice, great location, outstanding breakfast, price was good relative to the experience. Now the bad - if they put you in room 001 request another room. It is on the ground floor with the door right next to the stairs which means you get to hear people clomp up and down the stairs - does not make for a restful stay. You can literally step out of the window and be in the side street. The inside of the room is nice however.
